Yeah, I bet you can tell I am a bit prejudice I haven't had many dealings with them, but it seems to me that the response is an automatic one to what they are dealing with, or how we react to them. At least, for the most part. They are just people too. One of these days I'll have to tell you all about my son's 11th birthday and our encounter with the police. lol Oh well, this is as good a time as any. I just returned from California, and I hadn't seen him in six months. I was broke from the trip and didn't have a gift for him, and it was Easter Sunday. So, I decided he could continue his driving lessons, mind you we lived way out in the boonies and seldom if ever passed other vehicles. (His father and I both agreed that he should learn early in case of an emergency) Well, we had driven probably 30 miles or so on open road and came to a very small town (only one stop sign in the whole town). As we were coming to the stop sign about 30 feet before we got to it, my son stopped the car and slid down into the seat. I looked and there was a sheriff at the crossroads stopped at the sign. So I spoke to my son firmly and instructed him to sit up and pull up to the stop sign and then turn to park. He did so and of course the officer pulled through the stop sign turning to pass us, I knew the town and knew the officer would pull through the alley and come after us. So, when my son parked and we changed seats, I waited for the officer. I also knew he could arrest us on the spot and compound my auto. He pulled out of the alley as I knew he would, but didn't put on his lights, he parked across the street and walked over to us. I explained what was going on and he ask who the car belong to. I told him my husband. He looked around me to my son, and asked, "And, is this your husband?" lol Needless to say, he let us off with a warning. I laugh every time I think of my son whipping down into the seat, and the look on his face. Hope you all enjoyed reading about it as much as I enjoy remembering it. |
