Earth’s very close shave with asteroid

Cape Town - Residents across Cape Town claimed to have sighted a meteorite on Tuesday after what appears to have been a fireball “exploded” in the sky.

It is said to have been sighted just after noon. Nicola Loaring, an outreach astronomer at the South African Astronomical Observatory, said they had received about four or five reports.

The green and blue light with a white tail that was reported to them appeared to be that of “a fireball, which is a bright meteor”.

Tremors halt work close to Bayou Corne sinkhole
A “spasmodic burst” of micro-earthquakes near a failed Texas Brine Co. LLC cavern and different types of tremors to the west of that Bayou Corne site have led to a halt in sinkhole response operations in the close vicinity of the slurry hole, parish officials said Wednesday.

John Boudreaux, director of the Assumption Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, said work has ceased in the 71-acre swamp area within a containment berm under construction around the sinkhole.

“Any activity within the berm area was stopped this morning,” he said.

For example, Boudreaux said, crews preparing for a key three-dimensional seismic shot are currently working outside the berm area.

The Texas Brine cavern inside the Napoleonville Dome failed and caused a sinkhole to form in swamps between the Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou communities last August. The slurry hole released oil and gas underground and led to the evacuation of more than 350 residents.

The evacuation remains in place more than seven months later.

Boudreaux said the micro-earthquakes are continuing about every 15 minutes.

He said they are believed to be near the failed cavern that is known as Oxy Geismar No. 3, and not near a second Texas Brine cavern for which structural concerns have also been raised recently.

An earlier round of tremors in late February stopped work directly on the nearly 9-acre surface of the briny, lake-like sinkhole. That prohibition has remained in place, though work had continued around the sinkhole until Wednesday, Boudreaux said.

University of Memphis earthquake researcher Steve Horton reported that the “spasmodic burst” of more than 90 micro earthquakes happened about 1:34 a.m. Wednesday, parish officials reported in the blog post.

The micro quakes have also been called sharp tremors. These kinds of tremors built up last summer before the sinkhole appeared in early August

Since then, they have re-emerged periodically and been linked to rock movement in a zone of collapsed earth along side the section of the Napoleonville Dome where the Texas Brine cavern failed.

Scientists think the cavern was mined too closely to the outer face of the salt dome and had a sidewall failure more than 5,000 feet deep, allowing millions of cubic yards of rock into the cavern.

Scientists think rock is gradually filling the remaining space in the 20 million barrel underground cavern, which, at roughly 2,250 feet long, is the length of the world’s tallest buildings.

Horton also reported Wednesday the detection of different kinds of tremors, known as a very long period events, which have been associated with gas or fluid movement through the collapse zone, parish officials said.

These events were detected by a seismic monitor located at the southwest corner of the containment berm along the so-called Rig Road west of the sinkhole, maps show.

Horton and another scientist working on the sinkhole are trying to better locate both seismic events, parish officials said.

Yep, it forms almost a straight line!!

It is 122 miles from the Macondo site to Lafitte and 60 miles from Lafitte to the sinkhole.

If someone knows EXACTLY where the pipeline explosion was it may be a perfectly straight line.

The company will meet with a federal judge to see if they can talk to property owners who have hired lawyers.

"It's a good step in the right direction, but the proof will be in the results," said Gov. Bobby Jindal after a meeting with Texas Brine officials.

Meanwhile, the state plans to install monitoring equipment on roads and bridges in the area. Texas Brine will be sent the $750,000 bill.

The company will meet with the attorney general on Monday to discuss reimbursing the state, parish and local governments.

Texas Brine has paid $265,000 of a $480,000 bill to the local government and $190,000 of a $340,000 bill to the Assumption Sheriff's Office. The state has asked the company for $3.5 million, but has not been paid yet.

I'm thinking this new pope maybe part of a good thing. We may be at the start of a battle between the black hats and white, thats a hunch. The light always prevails. I do know these events must happen for real change to occur. I think we're in for some crazy days ahead. I will be honest and forthright with any info I receive. Several friends on this site, who I've known for quite a while are having very strange energetic events that they can't explain.

All the updates and the shared info are appreciated. There is so much going on from so many sources....that I'm feeling rather stretched. My feeling is that most of us feel like the line is stretched pretty thin and it's only a matter of time. The anxiety that accompanies that is very normal. Add to that the stresses of the mundane.....and it's easy for things to pile up. It's really easy right now NOT to fixate on one thing....because there are just too many things brewing to focus on just one!!

Well, just watched the news and they did a short piece on how Texas Brine is supposed to start having the people's land and homes appraised and then will "negotiate" buyouts.
Not one flipping word about 100+ quakes, massive movement of gas, high probability of explosions, etc. Not one word. WAFB has got to be one of the worst stations in the history of the world.
