Hey WA & AKO hf ,WA glad you watch the IGNV site too, if you were watching it prior this quake you can see that there was movements small quakes that dont make it to the main EQ monitoring websites like USGS,GIM,GFZ etc... and the big quakes get posted there too first then they get posted on USGS,GIM,GFZ etc.Like i said if you were watching prior to this quake happening you could see that there was going to be a quake somewhere near this area based on all the small EQ's(movements) happening around this area. I think the next area to watch should be South America. Watch all the small movements/EQ's [link to cnt.rm.ingv.it] .

The 1st one is where all the "big"(from 5 mag and up) or significate Quakes get post.

The 2nd link is where they calculated if there is going to be a destructive tsunami, its an EArthquake Rapid Location sYstem with EStimation of Tsunamigenesis.
Here is a link to see how the EArthquake Rapid Location sYstem with EStimation of Tsunamigenesis calculated the Japan Tsunami
[link to alomax.free.fr]

This is a small video of how the EArthquake Rapid Location sYstem with EStimation of Tsunamigenesis graph looked when the quake hit and the calculation of the Tsunami.
[link to s3.rm.ingv.it]

The 3rd link is where all the movements/EQ's are posted small and big some don't make it to the main EQ sites some do ,now you have to click Channel(station) it usually has letters like this :AU_MTN( this is a station for Australia Manton Dam, Northern Territor) [link to www.iris.edu] to those letters there is another set of letters that are always the same like this: HF(BRB)
if you click on HF or BRB it will take you to the seismograph for those stations [link to alomax.free.fr] and there you can see if it was a big quake or not. And like i said if you keep seeing the same station or another station around that area showing movements/EQ's around the same area over and over, then it means that there might be a chance for a big EQ there.
I hope this makes sense,i'm a bit tired. And please excuse all my typo's.

NOAA CONSIDERS EFFECTS OF ARCTIC OIL AND GAS ACTIVITIES ON MARINE MAMMALS AND ALASKA NATIVE COMMUNITIES

NOAA announced today that it is seeking comments on a supplemental draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for oil and gas activities in the Arctic Ocean. The draft, developed in collaboration with the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), includes analysis on how a broader range of potential offshore oil and gas activities could affect the environment, with a specific focus on marine mammals and the Alaska Native communities that depend on the animals for food and cultural traditions.

Sit Happens
Timber Hawkeye has a very simple guide to happiness - 2 words: be grateful. Gratitude turns what we have into enough. In this TEDx talk, Hawkeye observes that all of our suffering is self-inflicted, and that we have a misguided notion that happiness is something we have to "pursue." He shares some simple prescriptions for inner peace and tranquility: slow down, sit. There is nothing you need to buy; nowhere you need to go. Just spend a few minutes each day taking inventory of everything in your life that is worth appreciating.

I can tell y'all....from personal experience...this changed my life. The day I started counting my blessing and finding things to be grateful for....I found peace....and positive changes began to happen. It was as if the stepping stones for a good life began to fall on the ground in front of me and all I had to do was step!! Now...when I get stressed or things go badly....I start listing all the things I'm grateful for....I can be caught in traffic....or I run into an unexpected delay....and I start the list. It is remarkably calming...and while my kiddos think I'm totally crazy at times....they are learning. I also find that when hard times come...and we all have um....they just don't seem so bad because I've got so much to be grateful for.

I so agree with you on this! I immediately starts on my list of thankfulness when things start getting tough. Talk about a fine way to diffuse negativity, coming from a place of gratitude!

We were talking-about the space between us all
And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realize it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows ON within you and without you.
We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.

Hey FOG,

I just turned on the news here in Southern IN and caught the end of a news story where there were explosions underground yesterday. I came straight here did not search if anyone else had posted it. On the news they say no one is still able to get underground to find out what the cause is. I will look for the news station online.

We were getting some carbon monoxide readings in there so we brought in a ventilator truck to clear out the smoke," Lt. Col. Nally said.

Several downtown employees couldn't clock in because of the buckled pavement. "It was right in front of Republic Plaza so I knew I would not be going to work today," Peggy Perry said.

Bryan Scott watched as firefighters kept their distance from the flames. "To see that, and see the roadway around it broken up - it was a pretty powerful explosion," Scott said.

No injuries were reported. There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.

Re: F.O.G.
Hi everyone! AKO, your post the other day about Monsanto reminded me of something I've been wondering about for a long time. Maybe Shad might know, too, or at least y'all might have a good guess.

I know the seed companies have "short season" seeds for areas like Alaska, because of the short growing season. Our season for some veggies are split because of the high heat in the summer. Do you guys think some of the seeds for shorter seasons might work here, if planted early enough? I hope I'm explaining this properly. Our mid-summer is murder on tomato plants. They end up not producing until almost fall and then it's sometimes too late.
