4/9/2013 — Pisgah Volcano Earthquake — 2.9M indicates movement at the “dormant” Volcano crater complex
A 2.9M earthquake struck Pisgah Volcanic crater Monday, April 8 2013.

2011 saw some strange activity near the Pisgah Crater complex, as well as several dormant volcanic areas up the west coast , also extending south into Mexico. Multiple day long plumes rising from near dormant Volcanoes, as well as sulfuric smells across southern California.

Move forward to 2012, the USGS creates the new “CalVO” California Volcano Observatory — created to monitor unknown / current /and new volcanoes that may develop in the lower 48 States, specifically the west coast USA.

Also, during 2012, the newly formed CalVO actually UPGRADED southern california to an ACTIVE status near the Salton Sea Volcanic Buttes (just south of the Pisgah Location.. same region .. southern California).

Some snow - sure not what they forecasted that is for sure. Yesterday morning they were talking 9-14 inches...doubt we will see over 6", but the cold is worse than they thought. When that severe cold hits those hot temps out east, it is going to blow up!! We thought our front window was going to break it was shaking so hard. Guess that means we need better storm windows!!!

Please be safe all in the path of this storm

The wind was different, I have wind here alot, but this was not the same. And the drop in temp was significant. I had 3 birds hit my rear windows due to the gusts during the day. They survived, but I thought it would break the windows. Today is the normal wind we have, just chilly.

Ok, I have to ask something...have any of you had "water" dreams lately. For the past week, dreams of waves, having to move due to water coming in....watching waves and water rising? That is usually a sign of being "overwhelmed" in real life, but I am not at this time in any stress so to speak. Then my daughter calls me yesterday from VA, and she is having dreams of water and waves which I find strange as she never remembers her dreams. Mine are vivid, and I feel like I am helping people move back and away and then we wait. I know the wind makes it hard to sleep, but this is been a constant for over a week...any thoughts?

ASD Works to Identify Mystery Virus Among Students

ANCHORAGE, Alaska— The Anchorage School District is trying to identify a virus similar to norovirus that’s affected dozens of students, although health officials remain unsure whether it’s the direct cause of symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Nancy Edtl, ASD’s director of nursing and health services, says on Friday 46 students from Dimond High School went home sick, and 100 other students called in sick. An extra nurse was sent to the school to help the school deal with the incident.

"It was just one child after another as well as some staff members," Edtl said.

According to Edtl, last week was a testing week, and the illness hit particularly hard because there were so many students in one place. She says some students did come to school sick, and with concentrations of people in one location the virus becomes more contagious.

State health officials interviewed sick students Friday, and will now move on to the healthy students.

"They are trying to find the common denominator there for what it is that could have been spread at school that made kids sick -- was it a food thing, or was it just the illness and they were in close proximity?" Edtl said.

Re: F.O.G.
Wow!

Scientists Can Pluck Images Out Of Your Dreams
A new method can visualize with 60 percent accuracy what you're seeing while you sleep.

With just an fMRI, an algorithm, and the internet, researchers from Kyoto, Japan predicted with 60 percent accuracy what a person was dreaming about, Smithsonian magazine reports. The idea, like the process, isn't all that complicated: Our brains react measurably differently to different stimuli: looking at a book or a building doesn't cause the same reaction. So the Kyoto team had three people sleep in an fMRI for three-hour stints over 10 days, and hooked them up to an EEG, which used electrical signals from the body to track which stage of sleep the were in were in.
Early on, just a few minutes after falling asleep, dreams started coming in bursts. The scientists woke the subjects up soon after and asked them what they saw. (For each participant, they actually did that 200 times, presumably turning them into the Grumpiest People In The Universe.) The researchers wrote down the 20 most common things the subjects saw: people, buildings, etc. They then found images on the internet that matched those common things, showed them to the subjects while they were awake but still in the fMRI, and took a reading. That information was fed into a learning algorithm. When the subjects slept again, the algorithm spit back this '80s music video-like representation of what the sleepers saw.
(video not compatible)
The biggest words at the bottom are the algorithm's predictions of what the dreamer is seeing. When the researchers woke up the subjects again and asked what they saw, the algorithm was right 60 percent of the time. It was better at distinguishing between, say, a scene, like a street, and a person, but it couldn't guess specifically if the "scene" was of a building or something else. Still, 60 percent, even though it might not be high enough to do much other research with, is unexplainable by chance.
In 2011, we reported on a study from another team that's reminiscent of this one. The researchers in that study pulled off a similar trick by scanning subjects' (awake) brains to reconstruct a video clip they'd watched. (We took an even deeper look at the process, actually, back in 2010.) This study is similar, but the researchers say it's the first time the contents of a dream have been plucked from a sleeper's head. So even if the team was only able to do it with a relatively low 60 percent accuracy, the technique is probably just going to get better from here

Good Morning FOG,

Whew!! FOG is Shining Brightly with all this wonderful and heart work posts!! Loving it!!

So grateful this day to have you all to discuss the deep stuff with and to feel the truth and love radiate from this thread. Truly a Light in the Dark.

I am feeling called to change up my daily sayings that I post with the news.

Stay Safe and Balanced, I am feeling that Stay Safe is not correct as we are all protected always. Balanced feels wrong now too. We are all balanced on this thread and if we get off kilter we just come her to get balanced. I just feel that this saying is putting energy into this thread that we are not safe and we are not balanced. That is not truth.

So for now I am going to stick with just Shine Brightly.
That is who we are and when it gets thick we must remember to Shine Brightly.

Ok on with the news. LOL

Shine Brightly.

Much Love Everyone!!

These are sometimes difficult to assimilate. Usually follows next day or so with a euphoric feeling though. Thanks much for the news each day Tink, and I love your "shine bright".

Re: F.O.G.
Take a look at the bottle of antibacterial hand soap in your bathroom. Chances are good that a particular chemical is listed among its ingredients: triclosan.

The antibacterial substance, which was first developed in the 1960s to prevent bacterial infections in hospitals, has since been incorporated into everything from hand soaps to toothpastes to mouthwashes. Manufacturers see it as a marketing bonus, increasing consumer confidence that a particular product kills harmful bacteria. Even some household products—such as kitchen utensils, toys and bedding—include triclosan.

In recent years, though, research has shed light on a number of problems with employing triclosan so widely. Studies have shown that the chemical can disrupt the endocrine systems of several different animals, binding to receptor sites in the body, which prevents the thyroid hormone from functioning normally. Additionally, triclosan penetrates the skin and enters the bloodstream more easily than previously thought, and has turned up everywhere from aquatic environments to human breast milk in troubling quantities.

To this list of concerns, add one more: A new paper, published today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, indicates that triclosan impairs muscle function in both animals and humans. The study, conducted by researchers from the University of California, Davis, found that the chemical hinders human muscle contractions at the cellular level and inhibits normal muscle functioning in both fish and mice.

“Triclosan is found in virtually everyone’s home and is pervasive in the environment,” said lead author Isaac Pessah. “These findings provide strong evidence that the chemical is of concern to both human and environmental health.”

In the first phase of the study, the researchers exposed individual human muscle cells, both from the heart and typical skeletal muscles, to concentrations of triclosan similar to what our bodies experience in everyday life. Then, they used electrical stimulation to cause the muscle cells to contract. Normally, electrical stimulations prompts an immediate muscle contraction—a mechanism that is responsible for the entirety of our muscle activity. In the isolated cells, though, exposure to triclosan disrupted communication between two proteins crucial for proper muscle functioning, causing failure in both the heart and skeletal muscle cells.

The research team also tested the effects of the chemical on two types of live animals—mice and fathead minnows. In the mice, heart muscle function was reduced by as much as 25 percent after exposure to a single dose of triclosan, and grip strength was reduced by as much as 18 percent.

The minnows were used in the experiment to mimic the effect of triclosan in marine environments. After being exposed to concentrations of triclosan equivalent to those found in the wild for 7 days, the minnows were significantly worse swimmers than minnows that hadn’t been exposed to triclosan, and were less effective in swimming tests that simulated the the act of evading a predator.
Triclosan, A Chemical Used in Antibacterial Soaps, is Found to Impair Muscle Function

Using studies with animals to make assumptions about human health is always dicey, but the researchers say the fact that triclosan produced similar results in widely varying conditions with different animals—and the troubling effects of the chemical on human heart cells in test tubes—are causes for concern. ”The effects of triclosan on cardiac function were really dramatic,” said co-author Nipavan Chiamvimonvat. “Although triclosan is not regulated as a drug, this compound acts like a potent cardiac depressant in our models.” He speculates that in some cases, triclosan may be responsible for exacerbating heart problems in patients with an underlying condition.

Additionally, the FDA has declared that there is no evidence that using antibacterial soaps with triclosan confers any more health benefits than simply washing with conventional soap and water, and the agency is currently conducting a risk assessment for the chemical. ”Triclosan can be useful in some instances, however it has become a ubiquitous ‘value added’ marketing factor that actually could be more harmful than helpful,” said study co-author Bruce Hammock. “At the very least, our findings call for a dramatic reduction in its use.“
