Today every mechanical thing I touched had issues, and it ended with the new ink cartridge for my printer as soon as I took off the tape...it went everywhere. My red Golden could have been a black faced golden had I not grabed a bunch of paper and ran to the sink, poor Mr. Bear,(my dog)always has his nose where it should not be.. what a mess. Cleaned it up and went to the espson salt bath to erase my anxiety....hugs to you! I would love the astrology page...and yes the real deal, not the "rose colored glasses" column. Quoting: cabingirl Oh Goodness!! Sounds like a mess. Excellent follow through with the salt bath. I posted this weeks astrology above. She calls it the Weekly Weather. She usually gets it up by Monday night. She does have a podcast on Sunday nights with highlights if you want to listen to it too. I will start posting it since so much is going on in the sky of late and it soo matters to us down here. AKObserver User ID: 40716448 United States 05/30/2013 12:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Two new articles just out lots of things we talk about Arctic Current Flowed Under Deep Freeze of Last Ice Age, Study Says May 29, 2013 Arctic sea ice formation feeds global ocean circulation. New evidence suggests that this dynamic process persisted through the last ice age. (National Snow & Ice Data Center) During the last ice age, when thick ice covered the Arctic, many scientists assumed that the deep currents below that feed the North Atlantic Ocean and help drive global ocean currents slowed or even stopped. But in a new study in Nature, researchers show that the deep Arctic Ocean has been churning briskly for the last 35,000 years, through the chill of the last ice age and warmth of modern times, suggesting that at least one arm of the system of global ocean currents that move heat around the planet has behaved similarly under vastly different climates. [link to www.ldeo.columbia.edu] Our weird weather may be linked to rapid melting of Arctic sea ice It's more than 3,600 miles from Tucson to the Arctic Circle, but researchers are starting to link some of Tucson's and the country's extreme cold and warm spells over the past few winters to the loss of Arctic sea ice that was caused by a warming climate. A handful of peer-reviewed studies have been written by researchers nationally and internationally in the past few years, connecting Arctic sea ice loss to unusually cold and warm spells in winters across the U.S. and in northern Europe. The researchers acknowledge that their case is not proven and that more studies are needed. But they believe that clear signs exist that the sea ice loss and other factors related to Arctic warming - which is occurring much faster than in the rest of North America - could be triggering a chain of atmospheric events that plays havoc with the jet stream. That's the common name for rapidly flowing air currents thousands of miles long and about six to nine miles above the Earth's surface that steer warm and cold air masses across the Earth. "This research is very new, and there's a lot more to do. With the Arctic changing as dramatically as it is, I am certain there is some effect on the large-scale circulation, but the details are still to be worked out," said Rutgers University professor Jennifer Francis, who has been at the forefront of the research and the ensuing controversy. One theory is that sea ice loss alters atmospheric patterns that cause the jet stream to swing north or south for prolonged periods, creating warm or cold spells that last days or weeks. In short, Arctic warming "essentially loads the dice" in favor of more wavy, erratic jet stream patterns, said professor Stephen Vavrus, a University of Wisconsin researcher who has worked on some of the studies. Other scientists are skeptical. Professor Richard Seager at Columbia University's Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory said in an email, "So far I have heard Arctic sea ice loss invoked to explain cold northeast winters, U.S. summer heat waves, cold springs in the Southwest, Hurricane Sandy's path and more! A one-size-fits-all explanation for what, to me, looks like a run of bad weather." [link to azstarnet.com] |
