NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (Little SDO)
You might have heard - the NASA IRIS mission is being delayed by 24 hours and is scheduled to launch on Thursday now.

IRIS will advance our understanding of how the enigmatic interface region on the sun powers its dynamic million-degree atmosphere called the corona. IRIS will join the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) which launched in 2010 and NASA/JAXA Hinode (launched in 2006). Together they will explore how the solar atmosphere works and impacts Earth – SDO and Hinode monitoring the solar surface and outer atmosphere, with IRIS watching the region in between. This movie shows a full disk movie of the corona as seen by SDO with movies of the surface of the Sun, called the photosphere, and the chromosphere as seen by Hinode.

Story about them today
Every summer, something strange and wonderful happens above the North Pole. Ice crystals begin to cling to dust and particles high in the atmosphere, forming electric-blue, rippled clouds that stretch across the sky at sunset. Noctilucent or “night-shining” clouds are a delight for high-latitude sky watchers, and their season is eagerly anticipated around the Arctic Circle.
This year, noctilucent clouds (NLCs) got an early start; NASA’s Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM) spacecraft first saw them on May 13. “The 2013 season is remarkable because it started in the northern hemisphere a week earlier than any other season that AIM has observed,” said Cora Randall of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado. “This is quite possibly earlier than ever before.”

Hazy skies over Singapore unleash arsenal of hailstones
June 25, 2013 – SINGAPORE - The National Environment Agency (NEA) has confirmed that the hail that some residents, particularly those living in the western parts of Singapore experienced, is not caused by the cloud seeding in Indonesia. It said in a briefing on Tuesday evening, that clouds do not travel that far and the clouds would be going in the wrong direction if it was related as the wind is currently blowing the haze away from Singapore. Asked if the hail was related to the haze, NEA would only say that it was a possibility but could not give a confirmation. It added that the heavy downpour on Tuesday afternoon was not toxic. Wednesday’s forecast was still likely to be “unhealthy” even though the current PSI reading is in the “moderate” range. This is because the PM2.5 reading is in the “unhealthy” range. Emergency department attendance and polyclinic attendance for haze-related conditions have gone up 0.9 per cent and 16.5 per cent respectively, it said. –Strait Times

That's wild!

You guys need to check out this thread by Si<k Scent, mind blowing work on the existence of non existence.

Thread: Russian Plasma Experiment in Space Redefines 'Reality' - Down the Rabbit Hole...oops, that's not a 'hole'

from the thread:

Flux Transfer events

That is EXACTLY what they are. This is very interesting because the dynamics of these flux transfer events should be scalar. In other words, if it is happening between our magnetosphere 'bubble' and the sun, then it stands to reason that it is doing it from galactic center to the solar system. The connections may be more complex, but the overall gist of it should be fairly accurate. It is all electricity/magnetic connections, and plasma. Now, imagine the complexity of connectivity simplifying from galactic center when major celestial bodies are all lined up from galactic center to earth. It gives more credence (a LOT more, IMO) to the fact that celestial alignments do have effects on earth.

hi Morning All!

Seems our volcanoes are talking!
Intensified eruptions reported at Alaska’s two volcanoes
June 26, 2013 – ALASKA – Two Alaskan volcanoes that began minor eruptions weeks ago are showing their strongest seismic activity yet, emitting small amounts of lava and ash along with smoke plumes, the Alaska Volcano Observatory said Tuesday. The observatory warned of more vigorous activity with the Pavlof and Veniaminof volcanoes, both on the Alaskan Peninsula — though that will likely just mean more ash. Pavlof, a snow-covered, cone-shaped mountain, has been erupting since early May. While its activity since then has waxed and waned, seismic activity increased since Tuesday morning and the volcano has started continuously shaking, said David Schneider, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Some lava is flowing, and the volcano is spewing a cloud of steam and ash that has risen as high as 28,000 feet, said Schneider, at the observatory in Anchorage. “It’s a pretty good size, but not high enough to affect overflying aircraft between America and Asia,” he said. “It’s more of a problem for local aviation.” Pavlof is near the town of Cold Bay, a regional transportation hub whose long World War II-era runway serves flights to area villages, Schneider said. The ash has at times affected those local flights. Veniaminof, about 60 miles from Pavlof, started showing activity in early June and began erupting June 13, Schneider said. It has also produced a lava flow and an ash plume, though not as high as Pavlof — only about 8,200 feet. Veniaminof is a broad mountain topped with a large, flat ice field, and in the middle is a small cone that produces the lava and ash. The eruptions of both volcanoes compare to those in the past, where activity lasted for weeks or months before dying down again. The main hazard now, Schneider said, is ash fall, which is more of a nuisance than anything else. “So far there’s been trace amounts of ash, so it’s just a fine coating,” he said. “Our best estimate of what is going to happen is similar to what’s happened in the past — this level of activity and some level of ash.” -CNN

Dangerous heatwave settles over U.S. Southwest- temps to hit 120 F in Arizona

June 26, 2013 – ARIZONA – A ridge of high pressure will cause elevated temperatures across most of the Western United States, from Arizona and California, northward to the US/Canada border. This also may bring the first monsoon storms to the region as this abnormally large ridge of high pressure takes hold. It’s that time of the year again, where a hot desert meets the Summer. Temperatures in the 100s across Phoenix will turn to 115+, with 120+ along the Colorado River Valley as a ridge of high pressure builds in the area. This ridge will be very large, bringing temperatures 15-20 degrees higher than normal for Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, New Mexico, and Utah. Other areas like Montana, and Wyoming may also be in the outer fridges of the heatwave ridge. With that heat will bring monsoonal moisture into play, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah may see the first monsoonal thunderstorms of the season with this event. More information will be given as the data is compiled, but if in these regions, prepare for increased heat and humidity by the end of the week and into this weekend. There are indications this lasts through next week as well. –Weather Space

Location of Upwelling in Earth's Mantle Discovered to Be Stable
June 26, 2013 — A study published in Nature today shares the discovery that large-scale upwelling within Earth's mantle mostly occurs in only two places: beneath Africa and the Central Pacific. More importantly, Clinton Conrad, Associate Professor of Geology at the University of Hawaii -- Manoa's School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) and colleagues revealed that these upwelling locations have remained remarkably stable over geologic time, despite dramatic reconfigurations of tectonic plate motions and continental locations on the Earth's surface. "For example," said Conrad, "the Pangaea supercontinent formed and broke apart at the surface, but we think that the upwelling locations in the mantle have remained relatively constant despite this activity."
