I read this on my local news this morning. I found it a bit odd. Troopers are getting assault rifles. The thing that made me sort of wonder about it is this line. The Georgia State Patrol said it has not received a specific threat but believe the rifles are needed to launch a quick response. [ link to www.wsbtv.com] Most smaller departments only had shot guns issued to their patrol officers. As we all know, the bad guys now have auto weapons and vastly out gun the police. That they are getting assault rifles really isn't that surprising and honestly isn't a big deal when you think about it. I like them getting better armed.... i know quite a few Georgia Troopers, and believe me, if TSHTF, they will be on our side (the people).. not the feds.
