Texan Buckeye User ID: 1533753 United States 05/01/2013 01:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I guess our cold front just hit. At 9:45pm my time it was 54. It is now 36 at 10:23pm! Quoting: whiteangel It's getting really windy here tonight, too. We've had lots of virga showers with micro bursts. Mini dust storms. The front is supposed to hit us tomorrow night, but mostly dry...AGAIN. If it would only rain. Seems if you get this front you should get plenty of rain. Some areas north and west of me will see 17" of snow. Not all will pile up at we were just 82 yesterday and the day before, sheesh, and will melt. Here we will see 4-8". This is late for this stuff, though not rare. About 8 or so years ago, we got 3 feet of snow on Mother's Day! Here is hoping you will get a nice steady rain that doesn't pour Texas. With as dry as you are, it would just run off otherwise and do you little good. We haven't gotten any since the blizzard in December. Even then, it wasn't much snow. I'm near Lubbock. All the cold fronts have been windy and dry for us. You should see our dirt. It's just like dusting powder. It's so fine and then hard pack under that. I'm not sure about a garden again this year. I tried pots last year and it just didn't work out. |

Great big huge fluffy flakes that are just gorgeous. I may be sick to death of the snow but when it looks like this, it is sweet and a peaceful way to begin the day. Actually heard thunder last night after I went to bed! We will have trouble even reaching 32 degrees today and tonight we will lightly break a low record temp. April showers bring.....May showers! Oh and a correction to something I posted yesterday. I said we had 3 feet of snow on Mother's day a few years back, I was wrong, it was Memorial Day and in 2006. My daughter corrected me this morning and reminded me of the snow fort and tunnels they had been building. Texan Buckeye User ID: 1533753 United States 05/01/2013 01:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm kind of torn about the hog farmer. I've just started reading about his battles, so I don't have all the info I want yet. One the one hand, the breed/breeds he's raising are/have been considered feral. They really are feral down here and I've seen the damage they do to the land, livestock and people. They truly are a menace and dangerous here. On the other hand, he's raising them in a confined area and they aren't running around the county eating people's dogs. I guess it could be looked at like the people that raise wolves as pets or even rare, heritage breed chickens. They are so many old breeds of farm animals that aren't allowed in this country. I leaning toward the attitude of, if they aren't loose and hurting anyone/anything, what's the problem? Thanks for posting, AKO. |
