How the Fermi Spacecraft Almost Got Taken Out by a Relic of the Cold War
As a space telescope scientist or satellite operator, the last thing you want to hear is that your expensive and possibly one-of-a kind — maybe irreplaceable — spacecraft is in danger of colliding with a piece of space junk. On March 29, 2012, scientists from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope were notified that their spacecraft was at risk from a collision. And the object heading towards the Fermi spacecraft at a relative speed of 44,000 km/h (27,000 mph) wasn’t just a fleck of paint or tiny bolt.

A Supercell Thunderstorm Cloud Over Montana

Explanation: Is that a spaceship or a cloud? Although it may seem like an alien mothership, it's actually a impressive thunderstorm cloud called a supercell. Such colossal storm systems center on mesocyclones -- rotating updrafts that can span several kilometers and deliver torrential rain and high winds including tornadoes. Jagged sculptured clouds adorn the supercell's edge, while wind swept dust and rain dominate the center. A tree waits patiently in the foreground. The above supercell cloud was photographed in July west of Glasgow, Montana, USA, caused minor damage, and lasted several hours before moving on.

Meteor Shower from Halley's Comet Peaks This Weekend
Early Sunday (May 5), just before dawn, we'll have an opportunity to see some of the remnants of the most famous of comets briefly light up the early morning sky.

The famed Halley's Comet made its last pass through the inner solar system in 1986 and is not due back until the summer of 2061. But each time Halley sweeps around the sun, it leaves behind a dusty trail — call it "cosmic litter" — that is responsible for two meteor showers on Earth each year. The first of those "shooting stars" displays, the Eta Aquarid meteor shower, will peak on Sunday.

Explosions shake Cleveland volcano

Cleveland Volcano is erupting once again. Three small explosions shook the volcano Saturday morning, and a low-level eruption is ongoing.

John Power is a seismologist with the Alaska Volcano Observatory. He writes in an email that the explosions were "similar in size to what we have seen over the past several years," although he notes that it is unusual to have three in a row.

Power says satellite imagery and a webcam in the nearby village of Nikolski show that the volcano is continuing to emit small amounts of gas, ash and steam, with plumes rising to 15,000 feet. There's no real-time monitoring network on the volcano.

Cleveland lies on a major international flight path, and in light of the explosions the Observatory has raised the aviation alert level from yellow to orange. They warn that there is the possibility of sudden explosions reaching above 20,000 feet, but so far there have been no reported disturbances to air travel.

Cleveland is one of the most active volcanoes in the Aleutians, erupting roughly two dozen times in 2012. It's last major eruptive period was in 2001, when the volcano sent ash clouds up to 39,000 feet.

Ricardo Portillo, 46, was refereeing a game in the Salt Lake City suburb of Taylorsville on April 27 when he cited a player for an infraction and issued him a "yellow card."

Sorry I didn't get back to you all till now, yesterday was just a nice day and took advantage of the beautiful weather.

I want to thank everyone for their input. That some of you were able to actually see/feel this man/spirit was amazing to me. Gomez, you were very very close there. Pretty much what I could see!!

One thing I thought I should mention so you understand something else. I did a background on this apartment complex area - to include the neighborhood in case he was just lost in wrong area. I worked at the local police department as a dispatcher. No one had died in the whole area, except an elderly woman a few blocks over. This part of the mesa was all new development, only about 5 years old, if I remember right.

The odor in the bedroom honestly smelled like old MALE tomcat spray. That stuff can reek!! What was different with it than anything I have had experience with, you couldn't get rid of the smell. Baking soda and vinegar will kill most cat odors, wouldn't touch it. Even the last carpet cleaner that did get rid of the odor said it smelled like old tomcat urine but there wasn't any reason the odor should have still been there after all the cleaning and chemicals put down.

I got the sense he was dressed like he did as that was his real time period. Will admit to being able to pick up vibes from places, Mom was much better at this than I was. We loved the apartment, just felt a little odd about the bedroom, creepy at times but never evil.

Here is a weird thing - after I posted, wanted to add a few details - couldn't. Gone! Forgotten!! And it is doing it now. It is like this event (don't know what else to call it) is protected and certain things are not to be shared. Now do that make a lick of sense to anyone?? The Cowboy was protecting and guarding, seems he still might be.

we're catching some protons barely from the flare, not sure if a CME was produced yet but would be east of us, maybe could catch a glancer. In about two days SS 1739 will be in a geoeffective stance

Folks we are 'double dipping' electro-magnetic and plasma-wise with 10 GRB's in past 18 days, even WHILE solar input is moderate. Generally, its one or the other. So fasten those ascension seatbelts as vibrational frequency increases, raising consciousness. Stay grounded and centered. Also, I wonder if the plasma penetration and haarp indices mentioned in S0's vid could be from the GRB? I'll have to look at the timing.

Update: Checked the timing, doesn't match. The plasma penetration was just short of 06:00 UTC, the GRB was at 08:20 UTC.

This shows the magnetic setup and current flows of the sun , you can see 1734 the big sunspot in the middle of the southern hemisphere doesn't have mixing convective currents right now but 1739 to the northleft(east on the sun), has magnetic mixing from both polarities, which is the reason its been giving us high Cs and Ms in the flare dept.

When looking at above, between -30 and 0 is the beginning of full Earth facing correct? +60 has always been the area we watch closely for anything from this area hits us dead on flare wise, this I know. It is just the -30 to 0 range that I have always been less clear on. It seems sometimes a CME will hit Earth from there and other times it misses.

Help un-confuse me, lol.

Thats usually the range, I've seen SS at -15 that CMEd and missed us completely. Our magnetic attraction is usually better into the + longitudinal lines for sure.
