Just trapped a raccoon, wow is it furious!! Very aggressive and trying to flip the cage over to make her escape. I bet she can do it, too, but I hope not. Its really going to be a chore to get them all, we think its 2 separate sets, one momma and 4 babies (about the size of puppies) and one who is preggers that is scratching in my attic. I had a squirrel get in the trap earlier, released it and now this mean and furious raccoon! No sleep for me tonight, not with all the racquet she is making. Wonder if they wear themselves out and stop with the prison break stuff after a while?

Thanks everyone for so many good links and stories today.

Be Careful TG they can be vicious and are very good at escaping also carry rabies. We had one for a pet someone found him by the road and he wound up at our house. He was so cute when he was little we fed him with a doll bottle. Then he got bigger and fat he would sleep under the stairs and you could hear him snoring. One morning we woke up to find flour and sugar from one end of the kitchen to the other he had opened all the canisters on the counter my mother wanted to kill him. He had grown huge one day he went outside into the woods and never came back guess it was time to find a girlfriend. How did so many get in your attic? You've got enough for a winter coat lol. (Just kidding Peta people) hf

Re: F.O.G.
A nuclear gauge containing radioactive materials went missing from a job site near Martinsburg last week, and the public's help in requested in finding it. According to a news release from Valley Quarries Inc. of Chambersburg, Pa., a Troxler Model 3430 moisture-density gauge went missing from a job site after an employee used it to take a reading at about 10:40 a.m. Friday. The worker then placed the gauge in the back of his pickup truck and traveled to another work site. Upon arriving at the second site, he discovered the truck's tailgate had opened and the gauge was missing. John Englerth, the company's radiation safety officer, said that an employee from another firm reported seeing someone stop along the route to pick up the gauge and drive off with it. According to the company's website, Valley Quarries is doing paving work on the Interstate 81 widening project north of the city. The missing gauge contains cesium-137 and americium-241. It takes measurements by projecting radiation from those sources into the ground, then displaying the amount of radiation reflected back to the gauge. The gauge has a plunger-type handle protruding from its top, and its rectangular base is yellow. Any attempt to tamper with the gauge in the device could result into the person trying to do so being exposed to unshielded radioactive sources, the company warns, which could result in potentially dangerous radiation exposure. The West Virginia Radiological Health Program Office has been notified about the loss of the gauge.

Pic of the Day
Wow!
Galaxy Cove Vista
Image Credit & Copyright: Rogelio Bernal Andreo (Deep Sky Colors)
Explanation: To see a vista like this takes patience, hiking, and a camera. Patience was needed in searching out just the right place and waiting for just the right time. A short hike was needed to reach this rugged perch above a secluded cove in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in California, USA. And a camera was needed for the long exposure required to bring out the faint light from stars and nebula in the background Milky Way galaxy. Moonlight and a brief artificial flash illuminated the hidden beach and inlet behind nearby trees in the above composite image taken about two weeks ago. Usually obscured McWay Falls is visible just below the image center, while the Pacific Ocean is in view to its right.

On top of the 4.2M and 3.7M earthquakes at Lava Hot Springs, ID…. we’re now seeing movement in North Central Idaho…. directly above the magma chamber for the main Yellowstone Caldera.

Also, just north of Craters of the Moon, and Hell’s Half Acre volcanoes in Idaho.

Good Morning :)

Just taking a guess about SO's quake watch, he said in the next few days for the major quake. Anyway, when I was checking an asteroid's path on JPL, I noticed an opposition on May 10 with Earth on one side of the Sun and Mercury & Mars in a direct line on the other side. Seems it might cause enough strain at that point. Guess we just wait and see.

And if they admit that they don't know the source why would anyone in the community or acting in an official capacity for the state sit there and let them say that they think the sources are exhausted? They don't have a clue and they admit that. Don't buy their crap about "we think it is exhausted and we think gas volumes in the aquifer will start to diminish."

More fish deaths.

"Volunteers have pulled 25 tonnes of dead carp out of a lake in eastern Germany - there are so many, locals are running out of boats. Regional officials have admitted they are baffled - only carp seem to be dying in the lake."

Wow! That's a huge amount of fish and those one's in that boat are really big fish. Carp can thrive in sewer water wonder what is killing them?
 Quoting: AKObserver

It is happening in america too.

The appearance of dozens of dead fish in the Catrons Creek branch of the Cumberland River over the weekend has some residents worried.

According to Elcomb resident James Lively, the dead fish appeared in the water beneath the bridge on KY 72 at Elcomb.
“I saw them there under the bridge laying in the water dead,” said Lively.

Lively said he observed an official from the Department of Fish and Wildlife investigating the situation on Sunday.
Lively pointed out the first time he saw dead fish in the water was approximately two weeks ago.

“This is just the second time I’ve seen this, and I’ve been living here for 25 years,” said Lively.
Lively said he saw the dead fish float down the river, but he doesn’t know where the problem originated.

“They don’t die here, they come from somewhere up the river,” said Lively. According to Lively, he saw about 40 dead fish, all carp, floating down the river on Saturday.
“Some of them were probably 18 inches. They were pretty good sized fish,” said Lively.

Re: F.O.G.

Its time to dream awake a better world!
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan
