hi
Morning FOG Family!
Much Love to you all. Sorry for my 'wee hour' ranting last night. Thanks to your post TT and WA now I have something to blame it on. lol. Kept chanting all day yesterday what I used to tell my children when they were little 'Go away bad attitude'
Found this, this AM and started a thread Shad I know you are keeping up on this topic.

Remember the 20,000+ Dead Pigs in China River? Another piece emerges pointing to a Pandemic Cover Up?
What's wrong with this picture? 20,000+ dead pigs only 34 are tested Thousands of dead birds no tests? From 04/03/2013

Tests on some of the dead pigs later revealed evidence of PCV-2 - a virus that is harmless to human beings, as well as birds.
However PCV-2 it is only supposed to be fatal to fetuses and newborn piglets and the pigs tested were all adult.
In an intriguing piece, Pulitzer Prize-winning science writer Laurie Garrett has now suggested that the virus that killed the pigs could be linked to the new strain of bird flu.

A nurse attends to a patient in Shanghai where an emergency response plan has been activated following the two bird flu deaths
Writing for the highly respected foreignpolicy.com website, she said: 'One very plausible explanation for this chain of Chinese events is that the H7N9 virus has undergone a mutation -- perhaps among spring migrating birds around Lake Qinghai.
'The mutation rendered the virus lethal for domestic ducks and swans.
'Because many Chinese farmers raise both pigs and ducks, the animals can share water supplies and be in fighting proximity over food -- the spread of flu from ducks to pigs, transforming avian flu into swine flu, has occurred many times.
'Once influenza adapts to pig cells, it is often possible for the virus to take human-transmissible form.

And now this story emerges today.

Rising threat of a pandemic: flu infections rising among pigs in southern China, says study

An article in the science journal Nature last month highlighted that H7N9 seems to be circulating in areas of China that have large populations of pigs and humans “providing opportunities for further adaptation to mammals and for re-assortment with human- or pig-adapted viruses.”
They observed a drop in positive virus tests by the time the pigs reached the abattoir but, worryingly, concluded this did not mean there was less infection. “Instead, it reflects higher rates of influenza circulation on the farms where pigs are raised, so that they have already been infected [and so they’re immune] by the time they’re going to slaughter,” co-author James Lloyd-Smith of the University of California in Los Angeles said by e-mail. The conclusion was derived from a corresponding rise in positive antibody tests. “The prevalence of infection in swine has not decreased and so the risk of spillover to humans or birds is constant or growing,” added Lloyd-Smith. China is a priority for flu surveillance given the high densities of humans, swine and fowl in the region, the team wrote. “Currently, China produces and consumes almost 50 per cent of the world’s pork, requiring an enormous swine population.”

And this...OK??? I feel better after knowing this? How about you?

China has a chequered record when it comes to tackling disease outbreaks, which some officials have previously sought to cover up.
However, since the H7N9 cases have been identified, China has stepped up its alert level and said it is being transparent in dealing with them.
In 2003, authorities initially tried to cover up an epidemic of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, which emerged in China and killed about a 10th of the 8,000 people it infected worldwide.

My question is still the same from the onslaught of this. What is the effect going to be for us as migratory birds are just arriving here? We are mushrooms... kept in the dark as usual...Forgive me. Time to chant 'Go Away Bad Attitude'
