Definite prayers going out to those firefighters and their families. Mom and I stepped out in the 117 degree heat today in AZ desert. We immediately smelled distinct scent of burning pine and we are 250 miles away! Disturbing to say the least.

Forgot to sign in. No wonder all our pets hugged my mom all day. We didn't smell the smoke until we opened the front door! Googled for news on any kind of local fire but found it first here.

Here's another update my ears are hissing so loudly today hard to concentrate.
Arizona inferno: 19 firefighters killed, town evacuated, 250 homes feared destroyed (PHOTOS)
MORE: State forestry predicts Arizona fire to continue growing fast
State forestry is predicting fire will continue to grow quickly today, as erratic winds and heat fuel the blaze, AZ Central reported, nothing that the area has not had a fire in 40 years.

Good morning, my FOG friends.
So much going on. There have been 2 quakes in Yellowstone today and 2 more in Oklahoma.
The fires are horrible and I pray that anyone in their path is safe from harm. My heart goes out to the 19 firefighters that were killed and to their loved ones left behind.
Take care in the heat all you guys out west. I saw where the soles of people's shoes were melting in some places out there.
Very little sinkhole news.
Stay safe everyone.

Christians face persecution in many nations; from church demolition in Afghanistan and bombings of churches in Iraq, to the violence against Christians taking place in rebellious towns in Syria.

After delivering the facts, Metropolitan Hilarion asked Putin to make protection and defense of Christianity around the globe a major part of his foreign policy.

And, as reported by Interfax, Putin replied, "You needn't have any doubt that that's the way it will be," assuring Hilarion that Russian foreign policy would defend Christians from persecution abroad.

Re: F.O.G.
Storms and erosion aren't new, but there's something else going on here, that's making every storm a little more serious: Tidal gauges here have measured an increase in sea level. It's gone up seven inches over 30 years -- that's 5.5 millimeters per year, and almost two feet per century.

Dr. John Boon, a professor emeritus with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, says the sea level is rising throughout this region, and some parts have it particularly bad.

"We have relative sea-level rise rates that are the highest on the U.S. East Coast," he says.

You may wonder why or how sea level rise might be any different here versus anywhere else.

"The ocean circulation moves water masses to different parts of the globe, and gravity changes as ice masses at the polar regions melt, there's differential heating in the oceans," Boon says.

But in our region there's an extra factor: The ground is sinking. It's called "subsidence," and Boon says it's been going on for a while now.

It would seem all this massive amounts of rainfall are contributing to the subsidence issue
 Quoting: shadasonic

[link to www.accuweather.com]

An atmospheric fire hose with relentless downpours will continue to cause incidents of flash and urban flooding over the eastern third of the nation during the Independence Day week. There is also the risk of locally severe thunderstorms.

A stream of tropical moisture all the way from the Caribbean Sea to the Gulf of Mexico to the East Coast, Appalachians and neighboring areas to the west will continue the pattern of daily, if not hourly, torrential downpours in some cases.

They are already predicting 75% of New York will be under water by 2055, maybe its going to be sooner than they think. Massive rainfall amounts mixing in with massive northern ice melt isn't good folks.

Do you have any June bugs or dragon flies this year ?
We have absolutely zero of either here. This is our third summer here in north Alabama. The last two years we had hundreds of each if not thousands in our back yard.

I'll explain this tomorrow, they will be coming, have been dealing with the insect offset monthly calendar for... well months now. Soil temps along with lower moisture levels have pushed beetle larvae back along with pupation rates. Now that moisture has picked up egg capacity will pick up, they will be late but heavy. Will explain more tomorrow!
