I just did a check for my own info and this is what I found:

6.0+ - 2013-01-01 thru 2013-09-04 = 99 EQ
7.0+ same dates = 13
8.0+ same dates = 2

6.0+ - 2012-01-01 thru 2012-09-04 = 93 EQ
7.0+ same dates = 10
8.0+ same dates = 2

Conclusion, yes there is a very slight uptick for 6's and 7's but the same for 8's.

Okay, I checked last year for September 1st - 30th of 4.0+ quakes and got 1109

Also, don't know if it means squat but on Sept 5, 2012 there was a 7.6 in Costa Rica
