Out of Body Experiences and Astral Projections ... True or B.S.? | |
Satyagrahis User ID: 1147962 United Kingdom 04/16/2011 09:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'd have to say true. I tried this myself many years ago, its very difficult to master and to be honest I never really had much success, sorry, no success! However, one day I had been out shopping in the morning, it was a beautiful summers day, all quiet with birds tweeting and everything, when I returned home I was wore out so decided to have a little nap, laid down on the sofa and the next thing I remember is I was hovering above the street I had recently been shopping on. To say I was shocked was an understatement, I recall thinking and the next second I shot awake on the sofa. I am convinced I had an out of body experience, and even more so now as a few weeks ago I read on a site, (sorry can't recall which one) that OOB experiences can happen without you having to really try if you are very tired!! The thing that worries me about it is that I have also read that the soul is attached to the body by a 'life-line' (only way I know of describing it) and that should this line be broken then the soul is trapped and the body dies......how true this is I don't know but worried me anyway. I have also heard that you can become trapped in the different dimensions if your not careful....suppose that would leave the body in some sort of coma. Interesting stuff, look forward to others stories and comments on this. Great thread OP. “Do not fear going forward slowly; fear only to stand still.” "World peace, like community peace, does not require that each man love his neighbour, it requires only that they live with mutual tolerance, submitting their disputes to a just and peaceful settlement." ~ John F. Kennedy, Jr. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1343940 United States 04/16/2011 10:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Okay, true, true, true. But if it's true, then it should've gotten the attention of the scientific community, right? And if science gets a hold of it, it can be proven (since it's true). As I said, it would be exceedingly easy to test this. And if science proved it, wouldn't that equate to scientific proof of a soul? Satyagrahis, after reading about the dangers you mentioned, I don't think I want to practice it. I never heard of these risks in the "how to" articles I've read, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. Even though I'm only about 2% convinced that any of it is real or that it's not just the product of a profoundly detailed imagination, that's a 2% risk I wouldn't want to take. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1343949 Thailand 04/16/2011 10:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've had obe's and lucid dreams. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1323328Me too. They're spontaneous, though, I can't do them at will. Dito Same, same. One day I was sleeping in the afternoon.Someone knocked on the door I got up out of bed and went to open my bedroom door, much to my surprise my arm went through the door. I turned and saw my self on the bed and then instantly was back in my body. Had it happen a few other times also. |
sailormon User ID: 1344442 United States 04/16/2011 10:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have had many but few where I instigated it, as it seems hard to control for me. However once while out for a short time by the bed, my cat noticed me there and jumped up to play and get her treat, yes my body was fast asleep. This happened twice with an animal being aware. I know you don't want to hear of the spiritual. But in other cases, there were others there controlling more than myself. In one more violent case, I attempted to look at an entity that was effecting my grand son. In this instance, I was drawn out completely out of control like being in a whirlwind. I was at first in the darkness of my bedroom and could hear my body in a panic mode, breathing very fast, hyperventilating so I sent calming to the body and then was in complete darkness. At no time did I feel fear, only a calmness as though this was old stuff, but was concerned about the complete blackness which I dispelled with commands of there being vision and light. I then could see and I was in an old building like on a high rise which was deserted and now glowed in a pale green, the glow coming out of the walls. I realized that I was in my astral and was excited as I am somewhat compromised. So when looking down the stair well, I leaped out and floated down rather than walked which was a kick to do. The real interesting part was when I reached the street level, I was barred by this heavy dirty glass door and I could not move it of course. So it occurred to me, hell, I will just go through it. If you have never walked through a glass door before, it is interesting to say the least. There are other, but this gets lengthy, yet one more needs relating. This one was of a spiritual nature. I woke to a high pitch sound and then vibrations, my eyes popped open and then I was out of body and felt the presence of "others there". I was floating off to the side of my body and could see a light body within, my soul I assume and was given a message of how important it was. The soul or mine was pure white light of great humor and energy, imagine a light with a smile. |

I learned that the line is like our umbilical cord to this physical reality. so when you try to project that you have to brake this cord to progress to the astral world |
Meh User ID: 1299899 Puerto Rico 04/16/2011 10:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For me it's real, more real than this world. I just started yesterday to self induce it, and I successfully did it, before putting too much force on it that I couldn't last much. Both my brothers used to do it at will without any knowledge of what was it call. And I always wondered why I couldn't, I realized I was making something simple complicated. Now I just follow the sound I used to fear and piece of cake. I will be experimenting actively with it from now on since yesterday I actually did it at will with the new technique I learned. :) And OBE and AP is basically the same thing, you step out of your physical body. |

Quoting: MehFor me, this is true as well. It is more real than the physical world. I've been able to do it for years now. Most of the time I launch to the astral from lucid dreams. It my opinion, it is the real existence and that the physical world is but a shadow. |

It's hard to distinguish between dreaming and astral projection though. Either I dreamed I was flying over the moon, or I was really flying over the moon! I honestly don't know. It was that realistic. I could see ice inside some of the craters. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1343940 United States 04/16/2011 10:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know you don't want to hear of the spiritual. Quoting: sailormon 1344442Who, me? (OP) Spirituality doesn't bother me at all. I try to find a fine balance between science and the spirit. To me the two don't conflict whatsoever. My only reason for skepticism about AP is the fact that it hasn't been proven, when in fact it should be so easy to prove. So should ESP, for that matter, and yet here we are, and it's still controversial. BTW, Meh or anyone else, please give us your techniques for inducing it. My friend used to tell me he was able to induce it by lying in bed and recalling everything he did that day, from the moment he woke up until the moment he lay down to sleep. He recalled this all in chronological order and tried to remember thing with as much detail as he could. In researching these things, I don't think it was the recollection of his day, per se, that induced it, but rather the great detail in which he recalled it. A lot of sites instruct you to think of this or that in detail. One site suggested pealing an orange in your mind and envisioning the orange in all its details; site, smell, the sound of the skin as its pealed from the fruit, the spray of the juices on your hand, etc. So again, the common theme seems to be envisioning things in explicit detail. Is this something you guys can confirm? |

Force King User ID: 1102057 United States 04/16/2011 10:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I did an experiment one night in the early 80's. I worked for a restaurant in the Midwest and we were having a snow storm so business was slow. I sat down and imagined my whole route home detailed as I could it felt real I made it to my apartment and stopped Now comes the weird part I got home later that night and my two roommates asked me what I was doing around 8:00 I said I don't know why? They said they had felt my presence at the door so strongly that they got up to let me in. I then told them what I was doing and this confirmed to me that beyond a doubt that it is real I have been into meditation from the time I was 11 so I believe it takes a very calm mind without interruptions to reach this level. How do you fare at telepathy and precognition? Have you also had some success with those? I think pretty good, but I don't really track it. I use it as intuition, so it is hard to really say or not...and, I don't talk about it with other people. Also, I might be using different words for it. For example, I can see gaps in information. It is a form of problem solving, but it is as if I can see where the missing parts of information is in related information. I think I am good at tekepathy, but again, I just don't know because I don't analyze it. For example, I know what my kids are thinking when they say things, but my wife has no idea how I would know that is what they were thinking. Many times things like this will happen...I will hear a song in my head, and change the station on the radio, and the song will be playing. Stuff like that. |
