Interestingly enough, my 3rd son was born a couple if years ago and had to spend some time in the NICU. While in there I got to talking to a nurse and one thing she said to me was, "you wouldn't believe how many babies are born with extra digits."

She said 6 finger and 6 toe children are born quite frequently these days and that the doctor just tie off the extra digits so that they lose circulation and fall off.

She said she had been a neonatal nurse for twenty years and was overwhelmed by the percentage of babies born today with extra digits, like it scared her.

BTW, I live in the mid-south, so it could be geographical problem.

Anyone else know anything of the phenomenon?
