Gas this morning was $1.346/L which works out to $5.10/US gallon!!! That's without the currency exchange.

I wish we'd get kissed before we get fucked, hard to take

I don't know how people deal with that, I assume there's a larger reliance on alternative means of transportation?

America is sprawled out, Highways and big box retailers. Few of Americans walk except in big cities like New York or LA.

Much of America is empty land and the large sprawl requiring a car.

Ive been to Canada btw and can easily get by without a car. As the cities are well designed for bus and pedestrian, America isnt.

Europe has more condensed cities as well and ideal for bus and train and pedestrians.

Re: $5.10 per gallon in toronto. US has it easy
the money american's save on gas buy imported products from many countries.
so the more we pay per gallon the more jobs exporting countries will lose .
the more expensive production gets for exporters will mean even fewer products and services are purchased by americans.

perhaps this does not directly affect you per se , however the ongoing job loss at some point will fuck your countrymen hard and deep. the best part of all ?
even if you do weather the so called economic crash of america as a country,
there is not enough oil left to sustain any sort of first world lifestyle like you have today.

want to know why that is ? its because us mericans pissed away your future in our 10 mpg cars for decades . not only your future but your childrens' future and your grandchildren's future has been pissed away in our exhaust pipes.

best part of all ? there is not a fucking thing you can do about it , you are going to take the american dick down your throat right up till you can tongue our assholes. )

Well not going to turn this into a health care thread but the cost per Canadian is about $5k per year (not 100% sure and really don't feel like digging it all up again). So for my family of 4, the cost is 20K per year. I pay over 35K per year in various forms of taxation.

I honestly don't think any average Canadian or American has anything easy. The gas increase is going to be a kick in the pants on all levels of our living.

Re: $5.10 per gallon in toronto. US has it easy
Thats nothing! In the UK they pay the equivalent of $8.25 per litre, not gallon! If it weren't for US government subsides, i.e., US TAXPAYER dollars used to subsidize the big oil corporations, and many of the other corporations, the cost for fuel in the US would easily be over $10.00/gal.! Not going to matter much longer for the situation in the cities and surrounding areas is going to get out of control, and in some places it already is, but its not being reported by the MSM. They continue to show you the 'image' they want you to see!

All you high dollar gas countries also gave up your GUNS and AMMO in exchange for what? How will you fight your OWN beasts?

You also give more to pay for health care and food. You also get more paid vacations and holidays...

The US has it EASY?

No...
now we're stuck feeding the REST of the world's sorry asses and protecting them because YOU PANSIES can't protect your OWN shores.

If you don't like the US, EFF OFF....

Those of us who DO work here have to pick up the slack of not only those who WON'T work here, but also those of YOU the world ever who have NO clue as to how to make it on your own.

Re: $5.10 per gallon in toronto. US has it easy
Gas is around $9 per gallon here. I understand this is because we have to pay fuel tax here.

The reason our economy is still functioning is that we have the advantage of smaller/efficient cars. Also, the distances we drive are much smaller and most cities were designed hunderds of years ago, there were no cars at the time. I think cars are, for most people in Europe, a luxury. Most europeans could easily commute to work by bicycle.

My question is: Would the average american be able to pay $9 for gas? Or would this be unthinkable?

I live 100+ miles from anywhere that a bus runs. Live in farm country and RELY on my F-150 and F-250. As a Canadian, I can say $9-$10 gallon gas/diesel WILL HURT beyond belief.

$9 a gallon for gas would probably sink most American families. Americans for the most part don't drive fuel efficient vehicles...we mostly have SUVs, Minivans, and huge trucks. Even the cars are all the great on gas. We currently pay 3.85 per gallon where we live and even that stings because we have to drive 40 miles one way to get to a grocery store and 68 miles the other way to go to the Dr.

Unthinkable. The US was designed for cars and the USA is HUGE. I think our health care system would crash as we couldn't afford insurance anymore and everything else would crash with it. There would be a total breakdown and chaos.

Re: $5.10 per gallon in toronto. US has it easy
the good question will be ... what will we do if the world really runs out of oil? we = the workers in all countries will the price .. if u re in the usa or in canada or in europe .. the worst is that most of the car companies still do not offer REAL alternatives .. E Car maybe usefull in smaller countries with short distances like the european countries .. but they ve to deliver something too for countries with large distances i do not thing that the electric car is the alternative .. i could not even imagine how a RV like the navion we rented 2 years ago in canada would exist without a real fuel engine Oo
