misterx User ID: 1286998 South Korea 04/19/2011 05:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, Japanese posters: Do you need to be protected by big daddy government from wild internet rumors? Do you need to have your information censored? What say you? At this point the gov't. of your country has no credibility itself. Edano said just today that further cooling could prevent any meltdowns while other officials confirmed that meltdowns had in fact already occured in two reactors. I can see why they want to scrub the net! misterx User ID: 1286998 South Korea 04/19/2011 05:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant will not have a total meltdown if the current cooling of its overheating reactors continues, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said Tuesday. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1347530''Compared with before, should I say stabilizing, or it can be said at least that we have been able to do cooling to a certain degree. If we can continue this cooling, such a thing is unlikely,'' Edano said at a news conference, when asked about the possibility of a total meltdown of the plant's No. 2 reactor. His remarks came a day after Tokyo Electric Power Co., the plant's operator, for the first time said there is a possibility that spent fuel rods in the No. 2 reactor have been damaged. mael User ID: 1345658 Japan 04/19/2011 06:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was surprised the J gov came right out and admitted it. In that article it is easy enough to translate it to show it is plain ol' censorship. And another reason I'm not surprised is because I sometimes post on a board for foreigners here in Japan and I noticed two posters who were posting lots of details about the damage to the reactors and the radiation being released - got banned. Both posters were careful and polite whilst most other posters replying to their threads were downright rude and nasty. It looked like the board had indeed been contacted and were allowing the hyenas to attack people who doubted the government or were pessimistic of the outcome. And I myself was banned as well. I was really surprised because I knew what must be going on so I was extra careful. Though when I got to the site one day last week i was presented with a message saying I was banned. The ban was because I was being argumentative (pure bs)and for "spreading disinformation." Initially I just thought some resident prix had got together with a sob story to admin to get rid of me because they couldn't do it. But that didn't sit right with me because it would have been so lame to do that. Banned for spreading disinfo? W T F ? ? * And BTW I wasn't spreading disinfo - just info they didn't want broadcasted. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1343936Not so true, it´s not censored in Germany e.g., here they tried to pull off the same they did in Australia (child porn), now in Japan they use FUD (fear, uncertainity and doubt) as reason. The most amazing thing to me is that they do this all in the open. |

Burt Gummer User ID: 1310405 United States 04/19/2011 07:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to japanfocus.org] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1348070The government charges that the damage caused by earthquakes and by the nuclear accident are being magnified by irresponsible rumors, and the government must take action for the sake of the public good. The project team has begun to send “letters of request” to such organizations as telephone companies, internet providers, cable television stations, and others, demanding that they “take adequate measures based on the guidelines in response to illegal information. ”The measures include erasing any information from internet sites that the authorities deem harmful to public order and morality. Don´t believe your gov. So....to clarify. "Illegal information" is defined as........ "any information from internet sites that the authorities deem harmful to public order and morality." |
