This is why I worry. I hear they dress in Civilians clothes and wont be seen as Military. We are never to speak of his wear a bouts. I don't like it. Totally against this.

The way I knew him was not the way the Army saw him.
I was very surprised in all this.
I saw a soft,gentle soul.
I don't see how this plays into what he's being trained for and surely don't understand how he can handle all this!
It's very strange. Almost as if I never knew the REAL him.

The military will soon need more cannon fodder to do experiments on. Maybe he will get lucky and be killed before he can suffer much.

^^this^^ As a former Marine, I can tell you that he will both train and work with the best. My old unit deployed anywhere in the world within 24 hours. Chances are, you won't know where he's going, why he's going, or how long he'll be there. BUT, that comes with the territory. Good luck to him, Ranger school was ALMOST as tough as USMC boot camp ;)

In a week he will be leaving for 6 months to we don't even know where!

Army mom here!

Army Rangers are similar to Navy Seals, in that they are more highly trained for more perilous type missions and surroundings.

My son in law, an Air Force Captain, attempted Ranger school twice, but didnt make it due to health issues.
For him it would have meant a feather in his cap, more than anything. And as he rises in rank, gives more credibility and right to oversee and lead troops with this type of high level training.

Fear not....he will be cared for, professionally trained, and much more prepared for survival than most of us on this forum!

you should support him of just dont talk to him.. he needs all the POSITIVE contact from people he can have while there.. he does not need ANYONE nagging him for what he is doing.. So if you cant be nice and support him you should just remove yourself from contact to him until he is finished

It's heart breaking because we want to speak to him, know where he is. He was so family involved.

My younger brother actually passed it and is now a ranger. Very intense and sad too, but he wanted to do it. He's home at the moment for two weeks and then is being deployed to Afghanistan. He doesn't seem as happy as he once was, but is definitely more mature. I just accept that it is his path.

Just because he attends and graduates from Ranger school does not mean he will be assigned to a Ranger Unit. The training he receives will be excellent and he will learn more about himself during this time than any other. If he graduates he will have a greater degree of discipline and the abolity to take on tough assignment whether they are in the military or in civilian life. Be proud of him.

Its going to be hell for him.. it is one of the hardest training he will ever see. 18 to 20 hour days. alot of training, team work. alot of being yelled at.. Its just like basic but 50 times more of it. He will do good.. The biggest part you as family can do is support him and dont tell him any Neg news or throw worries his way.. He needs to keep his head in his training or he will fail

Actually, I am far from it. My temper only comes out when it concerns my family. Would have never started this thread if I didn't care. Do you not have family? Do you understand what it's like to care for a person?
