Can someone explain to me what the other bright object next to te sun is? What caught me eye today was it was a weird cloudy day and there was a ring around the sun. Took a picture with my cellphone and this is what came up! Any ideas...thanks for looking. Sorry if this has been here before. Just found GLP a month ago!

The shills said it was lens glare. I took 4 pics turned the camera phone 90 deg each time and the spot was in the same place. Far be it from me to know what it is.

I would venture a guess and suggest it's a reflection of the sun off the camera sensor onto the camera lens then reflected back to the sensor.. aka lens flare

My 12 year old came running in from his tramploine yelling there is a rainbow around the sun. We read it was called a sundog.
