They thought that it was so important that they made a special catagory of Natural Born just for the President. They wanted to make sure that there were no divided loyalties. They also believed that the father must be of the country because the child's loyalty would fall to the home of the father.

In this case, they would be concerned that Obama's heart would belong to Kenya because his father did.
