It is kind of hard to ignore, isn't it?

Personally, I believe it is time to retreat, at least for me it is. I'm retiring to my bug out location, a handful of acres in Colorado, a small "hobby" farm with my dogs and horse. It's not that I think collapse is imminent, but I do have fears that the gas might be $1,000 to get there.

The reason I am leaving now is that I can no longer tolerate people. I can no longer pretend to give a shit about their empty, vapid lives.

Most are asleep, most think I am crazy. Someone said to me this week, "WTF? You're going to go raise chickens and pigs out in the middle of nowhere?" This is while they were telling me their awesome plan to purchase this McMansion that was in foreclosure that had amazing views of the city. I shit you not.

You know, maybe I AM crazy as a loon. Maybe nothing is going to happen and by some miracle, the US won't default, food prices won't increase, and fuel will be cheaper than ever. Maybe. Maybe the dollar is fine.

The truth is that I can't stand being around most people. They are just so fucking self absorbed in their daily minutia. Just yesterday, I was talking to someone about my concerns about the safety of our milk, what with all the radiation, and I could tell they had no idea what I was talking about.

When people don't even know about Fukushima in meltdown, well, it's time for me to hang it up. I can no longer relate to the average Joe, so it is probably better that I isolate myself further.

I think it's time to withdraw.

I also have some of those feelings...I've kind of retreated myself...It's not that I can't stand people it is the fact that they are still acting like it's 1999...who cares about keeping up with the Jones...I don't even want to listen to them.

Start a community asap. Even if you don't have all the physical off-grid things sorted out, you will need group to help de-program each other, so that a healthy society can occur.

If you don't do this, it doesn't matter how many services you go without, you will still suffer the Imperial Conditioning, and all the habits and addictions that comes with.

200 acres of awesomeness are ready and waiting. can make it to the beach 30 min on bike, plenty of fresh water, seeds ill never be a problem, animals will never be a problem. still have attachments for the horses and farm land... plenty of family surrounding my "plantation" which any nut would have to survive before even reaching me... solar panels for the essentials.. plenty of wood and tools.. plenty of animals to hunt if need be along with fish... surrounding family still knows how to grow the tobacco and cotton.. know how to make clothes.. of course I understand the gold of hemp, MJ, and poppy.. more than enough medicinal supplies with also the natural remedies and I would die when I die

please give me an excuse to disappear...

I too have felt an urge to close up shop and head to the hills. The only problem is I'm in my mid-thirties and have a wife and 3 kids and a fairly thriving small business. While I'm fortunately located in a somewhat rural area, I'm still about 25 miles from a metropolitan area and definitely not "in the hills." It would be difficult to impossible for me to run my business from an ideal "bug out location." Therefore, I'm keeping tabs on Ozark mountain properties within two hours drive of my location and which are owned by Fannie Mae, or too big to fail banks, having been foreclosed (there's really not many). My game plan is if Nibiru shows up or they try to declare martial law or cancel the dollar or something, I can load up my preps within a few hours into a trailer hooked to an 18 wheeler (which I fortunately have access to if needed) and drive to one of several bank owned properties with my wife and kids following in an SUV, and just occupy the damned place. What is Fannie Mae or Bank of America going to do to me when Nibiru shows up? LOL. I'm also a lawyer and could hold their asses off indefinitely if TSHTF.

Hey ~ you are by far the smart one. And I know what you mean about people thinking your nuts and all that. I try to surround myself with what I think are opened minded thinking people, but when I mention things like, "the radiation levels " or the economy, they just either pretend they don't hear or give you a silent look. Or you may get a sound out of them but then it is not audible and they walk away. It seems like there is some strange bug going around, and everyone has come down with it but me, and my husband thank - god. I mean, atleast I have someone to talk to about 'et all' ! Soooooo , yes the world collapses around us, and all my "friends" on facebook , all they can talk about are the stupidist most , arghhh, I can't even spit it out. And yes I do facebook, to keep in touch with relatives, so if the shtf, I can maybe alert them, or someone. Sighhh. I am not a doom and gloomer, but it is right in our face. RIGHT???????

Yes, too many people are just too goddamn stupid. If you don't talk about football, Jesus Freak babble or dancing with the stars it's like you are another country speaking another language. Most people just don't know what in the fuck is going on, have no idea what their role is on this planet or any ability to ask questions or think critically about anything. It's going to be one hell of a cognitive dissonance for them when the dollar plunges and their grocery bill goes through the roof.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1329719

it's not really like that. "most people" know very well what you're talking about; they can read in-between the lines. However, they are also afraid of many of these things and would prefer to remain oblivious to it, that is, if you let them. Sometimes hearing, talking or even THINKING about the truth is tiresome as it takes more energy than the normal (linear) thinking process. Thinking is hard nowadays.

Picture this: if you were an elite athlete, would you fit in a group of lazy, overweight people? Of course not. Everyone you would tell them would be ignored and instead they would try to bring you down to become as they are.

You see , there is an aspect of the so-called spiritual path that is highly lonely. You have to get used to it. The farther you go in terms of consciousness expansion, the fewer the people that you will find yourself being able to interact with. The others will be like animals to you: they only respond to actions based on affection (what can you offer me?) or violence (survival mentality). Linguistic communication is useless.
