Quoting: ComedianMy top choices are: 1) The Stand 2) Patriots 3) Lucifer's Hammer (Have it, haven't read it yet) 4) One Second After (Haven't read it yet) 5) The Road (Have it, haven't read it yet) 6) Alas, Babylon (the first post-nuclear doom ever written) Am I missing some good ones? Martha Stewart cook book. It's total destruction for humanity. |

^Watcher^ User ID: 1118616 Puerto Rico 04/22/2011 11:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "One Second After"...gives excellent "play by play" of how long it will take for every aspect of society to break down and I used to live in Black Mountain, NC so the visual of the locations in the book brought it a little closer to home. The Bible...say what you want but if you REALLY want to know the sequence of events and some inside glimpse of how it will all go down, the Bible's prophecies are 100% accurate. You want "Zombies", it's in there ("And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them." Revelation 9:6) You want to know why everyone is having dreams of future catastrophic events? It's in there! ("And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams." Acts 2:17) You want alien abductions, it's even in there ("...They shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay." Daniel 2:43) The Bible even gives you the only way to be protected from all that is coming and not be fearful. It's like a book that reveals all the winning lottery numbers. Who wouldn't want to read THAT book? |

The first TV season is equal to about maybe first 8 issues or so (of the comic). "I find your lack of faith disturbing." |

I've got it sitting on my "Must Read Fiction" shelf. Have you read it? Have you seen the movie (I haven't)? How do they compare? They're both miserably depressing. The movie does a good job staying true to the book. Of course, the book is always better. |

Proskiracer User ID: 1350641 United States 04/22/2011 12:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The world at the end of time. Fredrick Pohl It's a story on how mankind sends a ship to a new earth many light years away. It just so happens an entity (who lives inside of stars) who is as old as the universe itself sets the group of stars that mankind settled circulating at the speed of light so that the stars may last longer than the universe that surrounds them. Billions of years later the humans become extremely advanced and the lonely entity makes contact and I can't tell you the rest. THINK ABOUT THIS! The universe created life to be observed, without an observer, it never existed. So it is a mathematical proof that the universe created life. |
