People bitch about freedom, but freedom isnt busting into stores, stealing plasma tvīs, stealing all kinds of shit you dont need and running away like you are king of the wolrd with your new shit. |

| Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | actually i was thinking i might be nice if we gave all the folks that need relocation $250,000 like we did for the folks that recently left the Gaza strip. I mean, if we would do that for the Israeliīs why not our fellow American citizens. No camps, just nice towns welcoming folks with some money to contribute to the local economy and culture too!! |
| Calibob 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think everyone needs to realize the fact that America has never had a refugee situation... nothing like this before. Get used to seeing tent cities like we saw in Bosnia during that conflict. Up to a million people homeless, living in tents, and no where to go, nothing to do. The city wonīt be able to be rebuilt. Everyone needs to get used to that idea too. We will simply have a million people frustrated, and hopeless. All of this talk on the news about looting has to stop. Just saw that joke Sean Hannity interviewing a senator from Louisiana. All he wanted to talk about was the "deplorable" looting going on... over video feeds of people wading in complete shit up to their waists carrying food, and drink. This country has gotten so soft and cushy in our decades of prosperity that people seem to forget... In the case of a life and death situation which is EXACTLY what those in NO are facing.. FUCK the laws! You need to get what you can. The senator responded.. "It may not be looting as much as it is self-preservation". And that whiney Hannity responded, "Uh Senator I think you are minimizing this situation". You know what Hannity needs to do? Live for one day without food or water and he wonīt even be able to spell the word crime. People in the rest of the world, like Russians who lived through the 90īs understand all too well... There is no judging the actions of people when society and its institutions collapse. So just get off your high horse Hannity and try to look with your eyes what is happening. Refugee camps will be built and many people will be left there and told to work (on who knows what) for food and water. This may just be the first step to a great collapse. Look out for the next hurricane probably just a week or so away. This was just the first of a lonbg season. God Help all of those suffering though this... and if they have to loot let them take whatever they want. Its all going to be lost anyway. |

| Calibob 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No doubt 1404, and thanks for posting this thread. Everything will change, and it is pretty sad to see so called intelligent people acting like there is something morally wrong going on. How anyone can blame the victims of this terrible event of anything I have no idea. If some fool wants to try and steal a tv how can anyone not simply see that it means absolutely nothing. The tv, the store it came from, and the whole block around it are completely covered in toxic waste. If some guy risks a million diseases and infections by wading through sewage and contaminated waste to get a tv heīll never be able to watch, who cares!!?? |
| Calibob 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | To: #1266 (are u sean hannity?) Do you really want to sit on a chair of judgement about these people "going out to theive?" Canīt you see that they have no place to take it? No electricity to watch it on? No frickin home to set it down in? It is simple immature fantasy for a poor kid to even get his hands on a plasma screen.. and so maybe he might be able to brag to his friends that hey he even got a tv... Big Whoop. Heīll be living in a tent with everyone else in a week, and rest your poor heart worrying about the store owner or the tv manufacturer. Sony, and the owner are insured. The kid of the street is just frickin living in a state of shock. Donīt you understand? |

| Momma Wolf nli 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ca Bob, While I completely agree with what you are saying, (my husband and I just got into this very discussion about looting and the rights and wrongs of it in such a dire situation.) We both agreed that surviving i.e. food, drink, medicine, baby supplies etc. should not be considered looting. He pointed out to me that any other type of looting, i.e. tvīs, vcrīs jewlry, etc. only serves to encourage other types of lawlessness such as rape, muggings, murder etc. A certain line needs to be drawn to curb the anarchy mob mentality. I tend to agree. Just my two cents. |

| Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sheeple need to be rounded up and put into tent cities so they can get the tender lovin care the deserve. Other wise, the way things can go, families will be torn apart and lose track of one another. It really is for the best that they are Concentrated into camps. Pretty much like the city they just lost. They were conentrated there were they not? Yes they were. And itīs best that they stay together so they can find one another and know where to go to find one another. So let it be done. |

| Calibob 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | MommaWolf: Your two-cents are worth alot more than that to me. Thanks for adding something valuable to this thread. I can relate to the in house debate, as Iīve been engaged in similar with my younger brother. You make a good point about a line needing to be drawn. Without a doubt. And I believe that line will be drawn very soon, as the military arrives via water craft. If the most recent report is true, then there are even 8 armed men in a boat apparanty trying to seige the Childrenīs Hospital (see: www.nola.com). I have no idea if this is true, but if it is, then I certainly hope help arrives soon, in the form of a uniform and a gun. Make that several of each. And also in full agreement that some forms of looting are acceptable vs. other kinds, namely survival vs. non-survival. However, in this tense time with the water still rising, I believe the proper thing to do would be to just leave the stores of all kinds alone. At least until there are adaquite numbers of police able to actually handle the situation. What you have (as far as I can see) are a few police, like the woman shown so many times, single handedly trying to administer justice, when her two hands would be much better used at this time, I donīt know, trying to rescue dying people. What I most disdain is the high-minded attitude of news people making judgements about the "civility" or lack thereof on the part of these victims. I hope that there is a voice of reason that might be heard which stresses that ALL people are capable of ALL actions given the right circumstances. Even sean hannity. |

| NoTicket 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I like 1404īs idea. The federal government has given so much money to the Israelis to relocate, Iīm sure they will also generously give a few hundred thousand dollars to each poor black family that has been displaced from New Orleans. Yep, thatīll happen... |
