Anonymous Coward User ID: 1313077 Canada 04/25/2011 11:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Go Chicago go! Vancouver Canuck fans are the worst. They are too arrogant. They keep saying sweep, sweep, after they won the first 3. Well, look at what we have now. Game 7. As soon as their team loses, down come all the Canuck flags and banners. Pretty sad. Not very loyal at all. And the players feel that from the fans. |

An NHL executive confessed to me as much over several beers back in the mid 80's. "It's all about maximizing league profits." He continued, how often do you see a playoff series wrap up in 3-4 games? There's no profit in that. When the Commissioner's office calls you up and says lean on your sticks tonight boys... You had better follow orders. Btw: The first game between Canada and the US at the 2010 Olympics was fixed as well. Can you image the remainder of the game turnouts and viewership for the 2010 Olympics had the Canadian's not thrown that first game so obviously? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1084809 Canada 04/26/2011 12:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Clearly one, you don't know the difficulty in ice skating extremely well, two there is no way hockey can be fixed because it is too fast, three you are a retard. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1221764Open your mind. I've skated since the age of four, as have many Canadians that browse these boards. It's big business. As a good skater, do you know how easy it is for me to slow my stride a bit to lose a race for the puck without anyone knowing? Don't be rude if you're ignorant. I happen to think the refs are how they 'steer' the playoff drama. It is getting more and more difficult to watch the NHL over time because it is not the same game at all. Sport doesn't mirror life, I think pro-sports is used to steer society. The refs are heavy handed and decide a lot of games, which frustrates the hell out of anyone I know that loves hockey, yet it is getting people ready to accept a police state. The same thing with taking hitting out of the game. They've stopped teaching children how to play with their heads up and now they get to the professional level and don't know how to protect themselves. So the solution is rules and rules and more rules. Anyway, I think something is up with pro sports. I happen to be a hockeyhead, and believe fully that the NHL operates as a business, and is not as much sport as we are led to believe. Fire Bettman. |

Can you image the remainder of the game turnouts and viewership for the 2010 Olympics had the Canadian's not thrown that first game so obviously? um you're lying right there, considering that a team has to win 4 games to proceed to the next round. also, what do you think are the odds of a team winning all 4 that quickly without the other team winning? NOT EVERYTHING IS A CONSPIRACY, I just phoned an NHL executive and asked him that. Such a nice fellow. Also, go look at previous playoff brackets, theres PLENTY of 4-0, 4-1, and 4-2 wins. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1306623 United States 04/26/2011 12:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ive had that feeling for a while, I've seen alot of plays that seemed fishy to me, and after watching the Penguins and Capitals HBO special and seeing how much dialogue there is on the ice and how composed and skilled the players are, it only makes me believe the NHL is fixed even more. I'm not saying every game is, but it only takes one game to make a difference. Has anyone seen that HBO special Capitals vs Penguins? The NHL is so corporate now it's unbearable to watch sometimes, even at the stadium. Sports in general are almost unbearable to watch nowadays though because if you actually think about what's going on within the big picture of it all it becomes depressing. And I love sports because I'm a human being who craves exercise because it's my natural instinct. |
spikeithard (OP) User ID: 971094 Canada 04/26/2011 12:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If your team was winning, you would not think the NHL was fixed. Flip-flop. Only when they lose, the NHL is fixed, right OP? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1313077And when you have no team and just like the sport? I don't cheer for teams, I cheer for good hockey. screw that.. i like the devils hahaha "The only thing in this world that gives orders... is balls. " |

spikeithard (OP) User ID: 971094 Canada 04/26/2011 12:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | from the author of 'the fix is in' on facebook just now about this incident...\ "I'm not saying that game was rigged, but Luongo's save was really odd. That said, like the NBA or NFL, I think the NHL could control games through referees...but not as easily as other leagues can. But if you got to a goalie then things change." "The only thing in this world that gives orders... is balls. " |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1084809 Canada 04/26/2011 12:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nobody has even brought up the reason why Luongo was backing up Schneider. The Hawks lit him up for two games to get back in the series. The documentary was good, there aren't enough behind the scenes looks, but it does take emphasize that the game is changing and there is nothing that fans of the old can do to change it. |
