RFID Chips In License Plates- How Do I Disable Them?
Does anyone know what it would take to disable the chip without damaging the plates?

Uuuuuh, I've never heard of chips in liscense plates. Where do you live?
Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Just smack it with a hammer, not real hard, just a good hit.

Yes, this is a common method. Nobody has the right to place a chip on anything you own and possess.

Will you be able to see were it is, if so, then a smack with a hammer is in order. Just don't make it obvious though. If you can not detect were it is, then you hook up the red jumper cable to one end, and the black to the other end, and jump start the little fucker. You should do it a few times just to be sure it is not working...Have fun!

but use a disposable microwave

I guess you can, I mean, that is the normal remedy, but licenses plates are usually metal..Wouldn't this cause a slight problem though, well that is, if you want to use the microwave again? Go get a throw-away micro and have at it.

Re: RFID Chips In License Plates- How Do I Disable Them?
A very powerful magnet on them should do the trick. You can buy super powerful small magnets online for a few dollars. They will stop the chip from functioning or responding when queried by a radio.

Also, heating them to over 200 degrees will usually do it (but test them afterwards to make sure). If you have a chip, you cannot be held responsible if it fails! <wink wink> The state should have used better quality chips is a reasonable defense. Just don't get caught causing the failure or leave evidence of your having done so, either. Don't be stupid, just shut it off.

Strip an extension cord and zap it by touching across it with the live leads. It will produce an emp burning the chip out

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. †.

That will ruin your microwave and not nessecerely the chip voltage takes the easy bath of resistance and besides a microwave is a short wave radio signal and not a electric pulse.

Sigh, learn to read dumbass.

The e-Plates project has been under development for the past three years at a cost of more than £1 million, and is currently under consideration by a number of administrations. It is hoped that e-Plate will be one of the systems trialled by the UK Government in its forthcoming study of micro-chipped licence plates.

Well...

There are passive systems and active systems... It would change your strategy for elimination depending what you find.

OP, Please take the plates off of the vehicle and take a picture of both sides and at least 1 cross-section. Post those somewhere we can get a good look at them.

At the same time... it is hard to realize why any agency would care where the plates are.

Various parties will be attracted to tracking the vehicle and known possible occupants (that's you).

So what you are going to need to do is crawl around under your car and have a look on a regular schedule for planted devices.

otherwise... the bad news is.... any navigation system has a GPS which registers and cross references your identity according to the item that is tracked.

the antennae are likely in the windshield.

so, those short range RFID are mostly used by stores as part of anti-theft systems. They activate passively when you pass by the transceiver. Anything related to a vehicle would likely want to take advantage of the constant power source, whereupon there would be the possibility to include the power consuming amplifier circuits that would allow random tracking and longer effective ranges.

more bad news, these GPS systems are small though they should require power... if it is a temporary installation, some battery operated device is feasible.

More than likely... permanent tracking devices will be embedded within unrelated sub-systems ...

those Key-fobs that open your door-locks at the push of a button... well... if you disable the antennae... that shit won't work either.
