Question about birth hospital: Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital
Below is the history of the Kapiolani Medical center provided on their website:

Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children is part of Hawaii Pacific Health's network of hospitals. It is located in Honolulu, Hawaii, within the residential inner city district of Makiki. Kapiʻolani Medical Center is Hawaii's only children's hospital with a team of physicians and nurses and specialized technology trained specifically to care for children, from infants to young adults. It is the state's only 24-hour pediatric emergency room, pediatric intensive care unit and adolescent unit.

The facility was originally founded by Queen Kapiʻolani as the Kapiʻolani Maternity Home in 1890 for which she held bazaars and luaus to raise $8,000 needed to start the Home. Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital opened in 1909 named for Emma Kauikeolani Napoleon Mahelona (1862–1931), the wife of Albert Spencer Wilcox (1844–1919).[1] In 1978, it merged with Kapiʻolani Maternity Home to become Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children.[2][3][4]

It is also known for being the birthplace of United States President Barack Obama

My point here is that nowhere on the website in the history is Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital ever mentioned.

The Kauikeolani Childrens Hospital merged with Kapiolani Maternity Home to become the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in 1978.

Therefore, on the birth certificate, the name of the hospital in 1961 should have been either Kauikeolani Cildrens's Hospital or Kapiolani Maternity Home.....not Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital..

any thoughts?

Now that we have a birth cirtificate, the hospital and its history have disappeared. The plot thickens.

Re: Question about birth hospital: Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital
Again, a simple solution can put a lot of speculation to rest: solicit birth certificates from others born in the same hospital around the same time. The certificates should be nearly identical (format, terminology, even typewriter anomalies) other than specific information, of course.

As for the hospital name, it's conceivable (pun intended) that its legal business name is a variation of the name it is known by to the public. As ownership (or governorship) changes the legal name may change while the public name stays in place.

well i checked the Corporations division of the Sec of State in Hawaii....no record of entity by that name on BC....

the website gives their specific names with capital letters as one would properly do for the name....

it would be nice for someone who lives in Hawaii, who was born at that hospital in 1961 to produce theirs and compare....that would be really good.

thanks for posting that link.

i find it interesting that Obamas does not contain the certification at the bottom.

also i find it interesting that on the ladies, she was born in January of 1961 and has number 61-10637....Obama was born 8 months later and has 61-10641.

surely each child born got the next number up in the form book....seems odd that the id number went up only by 4....surely there were more children born than that....

On the internet you will see Kapiolani spelled just as I typed it BUT in 1961 we did not have internet. When a person in Hawaii writes it or types it most do not forget the apostrophe. It should be written Kapi'olani. I would compare more than one ladies birth certificate to this one. There is still to many discrepencies.

...Also, take a look at the dates of parent's signatures written on both the President's and sample mentioned. The 8-7-61 appears to be written by the same person. I know it's not exact, but why the dates written by the same person with no signatures the same?

Having grown up in Hawaii myself I can tell you the only time the accents are written is when someone is being PC. Or sometimes in the newspaper. It is not uncommon for Hawaiian names to be written without the accent.

Case in point: Hawai'i is the true spelling, but most in Hawaii spell it "Hawaii".

That is not from the Kapiolani Website that's copied directly from Wikipedia. Now while the actual information in there is accurate what is on the website is substantially different so please don't make a false claim of where you got your information. However I did some digging and The name of Kapiolani Maternity Home was never the name recognized. Check American journal of obstetrics and gynecology, Volume 69 1955

Re: Question about birth hospital: Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital
The hospital opened as Kapiolani Maternity Home but
changed it's name to Kapiolanicool2 Maternity and Gynecological Hospital prior to the 1940's.

It merged with Kauikeolani Childrens Hospital in 1978 and became Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children as it is known by today.

On the issue of the written race, my BC from Hawaii (1963) shows my fathers race as “Caucasian” and my mother as “Japanese”.

On the issue of the Hospital address changing. The only address included on the BC is the parents current address at the time of birth, not the hospitals. If you note, Block 7a requests the “Usual Residence of the Mother: City, Town etc.” and Block 7d requests the Street Address.

I wonder what a Black person would have been called in 1961. "African" or "Negro." Clearly, Obama's dad was African, and correct, using presnt day's political correctness. (PC). But in 1961, and in fact, through to 1968 when the world changed, wasn't the PC term used "Negro?!?" I don't mean to offend anyone using that terminology, I just think it was considered polite at the time, and may have been the term used in official documents.

Just wondering,,,,,,

Re: Question about birth hospital: Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital
Who Grabbed What When?

Nobama's LFBC form # is later than a woman's who had twins the day after.
Nobama's form for August 4,1961 is 10641.
The woman's for August 5,1961 is 10637.

The two questions that must be asked NOW are:
Was it common practice for the nurses and doctors to grab a form when pregnant women first entered the hospital, and then wait to fill out the form until the baby was born?
Or, was it common to wait to grab a form until the baby was actually born?

I guess these questions will be covered up too!

Obaminations, however, can argue that since the form was not signed until 4 days after he was born that there were two different typewriters used.
It looks like the millions nobama spent to cover this up paid off!
The only 2 questions left hanging loose are those I asked above.
I cannot post links here, but do a search on google for this:
"1961 Nordyke Twins LONG FORM Birth Certif Revealed! Same birth date as Obama!"
I got my 2 questions after reading the information on biasedmediaboycottDOTcom.

IF nobama was born on the 4th why is his form # later than the twins who were born a day later?
Are the numbers on the forms pre-stamped on the forms, or are the numbers of the forms typed in as is with every other piece of information on the forms?
Most forms are prefixed with numbers; however, in 1961 those forms could have had no form numbers on them, and they may have had to be typed in.
This only raises 2 more questions.
Do YOU know the answers to these questions?

When you look at the address for the hospital on the two different bithcertificates they are significantly different- Obama BC-6085 Kalanianaole Highway, On the twins BC-2013 Kakela Drive. The hospital must have been on wheels.

Re: Question about birth hospital: Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital
The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth program was established in 1911, by the Hawaiian territorial Government, as to register a person born in Hawaii who was one year old or older and whose birth had not been previously registered in Hawaii.

The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth Program was terminated in 1972, by the State of Hawaii. As such all births thereafter were issued a "Standard Certificate of Birth" by the Hawaiian State Department of Health.

The document alleged to be Obama's Birth Certificate is a Standard "Certificate of Birth" issued by the Hawaiian State Department of Health. Problem is the Standard "Certificate of Birth" did not exist and therefore could not be issued prior to 1972.

"Any person to whom a Certificate of Hawaiian Birth has been issued may submit a request to amend an entry, including a legal change of name, on an existing Certificate."
" A request to amend a Certificate of Hawaiian Birth will, however, be considered to be and treated as an application with the Department of Health for registration of a "Late Certificate of Birth" in current use

1. Because Obama was born prior to 1972 his birth would have been recorded and documented with a with Certificate of Hawaiian Birth

2. That the Standard Certificate of Birth Issued by the Hawaiian State Department of Health was only Issued to those persons born after 1972 meeting the requirements of proof as established by Hawaiian State Department of Health.

3. That even if Obama requested a change or correction of his Certificate of Hawaiian Birth pursuant State Law the Hawaiian State Department of Health would Issue a "Late Certificate of Birth" (which is not the same as a Standard Certificate of Birth)

In 1978, it merged with Kapiolani Maternity Home to become Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
However, as of 1978 (up to the date of the actual merger) the maternity part of the hospital was still known as the Kapi`olani Maternity Home. The Wiki info applies to the WHOLE hospital, not to the part where Obama's mother would have stayed, which was THEN called the Kapiolani Maternity Home. Therefore, the name on the (concocted) long form is STILL WRONG. That's because it was computer generated from information in a computer data base, NOT from an original authentic birth certificate.
