I've NEVER seen lightening like this!!!!!!!!! (Western NC)

I'm west of you, I'm sure I'll be getting what you are currently experiencing. Winds picking up, new tornado watch as I type (Droid app.) And service is getting slow.

No thunder? Did you hear it later? How much later? From same sideways lightening or did regular lightening come in? Sorry for a bunch of questions, I just have a sliver of a theory about these storms and sideways lightening, and your account, and maybe mine soon can help me put it together..

Also, what color tint did it have?

I made a video recently of a cloud that passed through here and it was like a ball of lightning. For about 20 minutes I watched this thing roll by and the lightning kept on striking. I did not once hear thundering. I have the video around, I was going to edit and upload it to youtube but never got around to it.

Thunder did happen later. Tint of lightening is blue. Hope that helps...and STAY SAFE! We are in a lull at the moment, thank goodness!

I was wondering the tint because the delay in sound/thunder. Tint could be a product of particular atmospheric conditions, or (tinfoilery alert!) The speed, according to Einstein's theory of reletivity (I think?), where he goes on about blue and red shifts according to speed, being an optical illusion I guess. Since it wasn't hittingthe ground, the soundwaves had to bounce off the atmosphere?
Idk why it was blue tint, just kinda thinking "out loud" in a blog here haha

Coolest part is the lightening is not even white bright white it lights up everything here in VA where I am now green like a glow stick that has been popped and about half way fizzed out........green lightening lighting up our yards and woods......and the rumbling rattling walls in my den which is 24 feet long 13 feet high to get to the ceilings..made of wood and concrete sub as well as finishing. Have not had that before not here. You could even here the walls crackling and the pictures rattling and they are en-glassed and framed in sizes of 4feet wide and over 3 feet high...anchored deep yet even they rattled glass against wooden frames.

Tornado warning for Tuxedo, Flat Rock, , Bat Cave, Henderson County, SE Buncombe County, NC. Not a watch, a warning. Just came over the radio.

Watcher my daugther is in Ashville, I hate that her apartment is on the top floor of here building. It looks like on the map your not going to get the worst of it. It does look like we will get smacked hard here in the Charlotte area. Not looking forward to it. Stay safe...

I had an uneasy feeling about the storms last night. I.expected it to a lot worse but thankfully the mountains broje the storms up or it could have been worse. But the lightning was strange. It was humid all night it try. To raun then stop then rain again.

No, they are not natural. People having a hard time with the truth that global aerosols can be charged and drawn together to form huge burst of energy like Tornados, circling cites round and round for constant rain, or centrally charged to cause drought.

Most sky watchers know the aerosol form those strange formations and is actually depleting our skies of real clouds and healthy rains.

Hear a lot of planes? See a blanket of gray overhead, or watch the aerosols, the brown, black and gray formations devour, rip, shred clouds apart until their gone. LOOK people. damn, its so easy to tell, yet so many are ignorant, going on ten years now.

this is happening in NEPA right now...pretty strange stuff, never seen it before.

Mentioned this to people last week here in SW Florida. Spider lightning with no accompanying thunder. This went on for 3 days. Someone mentioned sheet lightning. I have never heard of that before. I'll have to look into that because I never ever remember it lightning out without the thunder.

I love thunderstorms & lightning because it makes you take a step back and realize how small we really are in comparison to mother nature!

We had red and blue lighntnings in the western area of germany last night. Never saw this before. It was scary. My dog went under the bed.

Lucky you.....It doesn't get hot enough here, most years to see that kind of lightening.
Sheet lightening, cloud to cloud lightening or heat lightening some of the names it is called.

Yo, Watcher! I'm on the Madison/Buncombe line and I was outside til past dark looking and listening. It was awesome since I haven't had rain in over a month. Very cool. I wasn't feeling any fear out of this one. There have been others, tho, towards Tenn. that I thought weren't natural.

I said the very same thing to my wife last night (live in NY) ... I don't remember seeing a more "Electrically active" storm in my life.

There was no more than 10 seconds between any 2 lightning strikes. It was absolutley awesome to watch ...
