About 80% of the US population lives on about 10% of the land, located in dense, urban areas. The remaining 20% living in rural areas, but produce almost all of the food, coal, lumber, power, fuel, etc. We only need about 60 million people to keep everything going, all the rest are worthless.

Basically, if you keep the doctors, scientists, technicians, skilled tradesmen and you starve the entitlement recipients and those who don't contribute, run off those who are here illegally, the problems of this country would magically disappear overnight.

This is an important statistic to remember if you don't want to be carted off to a FEMA camp. "Useless eaters" live in cities, the key producers live in rural areas.

If you look at it from a national perspective, cutting off several key metropolitan areas such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, St. Louis, Chicago, New York, Philly, and strangling those areas, the rest is manageable. You're talking about 60-70 million useless eaters gone, close to one-quarter the population. California has well over a half million people on welfare alone. Imagine getting rid of those and keeping the farmers that live there.

If you cut off any population over 1 million, you would do away with more than one-third of the population (and likely 90% of the crime and social problems).

Those that remain could easily be absorbed by the surrounding countryside, farms and self-sustaining communities.

The military couldn't possibly handle going door-to-door in the rural areas, nor would I think it would be advantageous to do so. The military has to eat as well and needs power. Instead, you could take the US military and effectively quarantine the major population centers. This would have a dual purpose of a mass die-off as well as protecting your infrastructure to the farms, mining operations and fuel refineries.

The most efficient way to cull a population is to go to the urban areas. This is why you should get out of there now. In a crisis, there are a number of issues that could become a major problem, such as disease, violence or even population reduction.

Looks like its gonna park at the 73 level....72 is such a mental breach sort of letting the dow get below 10k, that whatever is necessary will be done to keep it above 73 for the time being.

not sure what affect the ceasing of the QE2 in June will have...might hang out at 73 till then, unless something happens abroad that helps it out.

Americans need to accept the fact that Capitalism and Constitutional government have failed us and to get read to adopt the newest form of government currently in the oven.

If you think you are dead just because the Constitution is, then you are probably going to have a tough time coming to terms with what the necessary changes coming down the pipe will come to fruition in the coming years.

America strong on water and food, we should be fine. Anyone wants to get froggy we can destroy their whole country.

Of course it's not going to come down to that because of the whole balance of power with Russia thing, but there won't be any foreign troops in the USA, that's just absurd, essentially no military NOW has sufficient power projection to go up against American's HUNTERS let alone the combined forces of police, national guard, and federal army.

And don't worry, if the USA can't sustain those for itself, the rest of the world won't be able to either.

I was looking at the overall picture as well.
I have done some preps and my family is on board as well, to some extent that is.
We will get away from the city as much as we can.
We all know where to meet.

What I am pointing out, when looking back at Katrina, exposed alot of what people in large cities will resort to.
Take into account how our government is pathetic and how the media keeps the masses in the dark about many matters...people will have to fend for themselves.

Many aren't prepared.
When there is so much chaos and disinformation, who will be providing protection/security/social order of any kind?

How will police, who will not be paid, do their job when their own families are unprotected and without food/water???
As long as America is left alone from outside influences, I actually see your scenario playing out. Many people will group together...but many will not.

As far as foreign troops...what if our government made a deal due to our financial collapse? You know those crooks in DC want to keep their position of power. And when the new system that comes into play takes center stage, they want to be in the high seats.

I think it is going to play out very differently depending on where you are... we forget in this world of "globalization" that it is the particulars of locale that really matter.

Suffice to say, I think the worst places to be are mid-western eater cities... I think the major coastal cities are probably good bets, as is being out in the Western highlands. The suburban sprawl lands are probably going to be a bad spot too.

Basically extreme control or extreme solitude will be the themes of safety... anything in the middle will be a crap shoot post SHTF, IMHO.

when we devalue the currency, it in essence is like a store marking down their merchandise on sale. because they need money. if its cheaper then you will buy more thereby creating revenue for the store because they are in a cash crunch.

because of a weaker dollar, investors using EU, yuan, Swiss Franc and other currencies can exchange fewer of their "dollars" for more of ours and invest it in the stock market, real estate, automobiles, etc. So, we should see a spike in the market and other international areas like software, etc....I expect the DOW to get up to or over 13,000 actually for a bit.

also, when we have a weak dollar, people will travel to US to vacation during the summer, or buy our goods as it will be cheaper...in theory.

however, conversely, what do you think of when you see a store with a big sign in the window that says 90% off sale! most would think, uh oh, they must be in trouble if they are having to put everything up for sale with that big of a discount.

thats what foreign investors have to analyze....is this just a devaluation to generate trade with US or is this a real sign that they are in trouble such that any possible investment is more risky.

thats where the whole, if it gets below a certain amount, we're screwed comes from.

71-74 is the number that most in the world say....thats too cheap, there must be real bad problems with the US economy if they put themselves up for sale that much.

We did see 70-71 in 2008...and you remember what happened at that same time...the feds came in and said the entire financial system is gonna collapse and martial law will be required if you dont give us 800 billion in tarp funds. so we know that system collapse is at 70.

thats what makes it so tricky and necessary to watch below 74...thats the trigger to a quick decline to 70...thats where we're at...

its not so much how low it goes as how long it stays low....

we went from 87 in late 2007 to 70 in May 2008...thats when the banking crisis was beginning to boil, whick led to the september collaps...after the cash injection the dollar raced to close to 90....

here we have slowly moved from close to 90 in May of 2010 to 73 now....if we dont see a significant jump in dollar value, then that spooks investors..if you compare the long decline from 2006 to 2008, when we hit 70, the market crashed like a ton of bricks...we have seen a much steeper decline from May 2010 to now in terms of point drop, so it looks like we're going down fast...

the issue is what is gonna catch us this time to put the brakes on and pull it back up.

i think we have to make everyone else crash just as hard, which makes our currency look better or we will scrap the dollar and go to the SDR (Special Drawing Rights) financial sytem this summer.
