How to eat Spirulina powder? | |

I got a cap stuck in my food pipe and it doesn't taste the best, but it is good for you. Sprinkle it on something that has a lot of flavor to begin with. Maybe a strong flavored juice like cran-grape or pineapple-orange. Pills/capsules are much easier to down. You should also add chlorella to your regimen. It too is a superfood. Don't take tumeric caps with coffee either, they tend to melt and get stuck. The blowback is not pleasant at all, powder comes back up and tends to burn the throat, and nose. Milk doesn't help, tums don't help, you just gotta wait it out. |

My problem? Last year I had a mix of spirulina/chlorella/barley grass/wheat grass and had it with my veg/fruit smoothie, to which I mixed the elderberries in my garden with. YES ELDERBERRIES. I was literally wired and high half the day and then the extreme pain, diarrhea and vomiting occurred for hours and hours. AND HOURS. So now despite those green foods doing me good, because of the elderberries my body has programmed me to feel the gag/nausea response to any of them. Really frustrating. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1309109 It is an acquired taste but when I had cancer, I used it three times a day in juice drinks. I still like it but do not use it as often. I also can recommend the tablets for on the road when you want energy and focus. Mix your spirulina in carrot juice for the best taste, imho. I add cucumber and/or fresh beet too. There are lots of other combinations but my two favs are mixing the spirulina into either carrot or fresh orange juice. It is a very good taste with the orange. I also told myself it was like drinking green gold since it was so healing to my body. Here is my favorite powder brand- [link to www.iherb.com] It does taste good with water and is a main choice of mine for prepping since a little goes a long way and it is so nutritional. For tablets, I can highly recommend either of these two brands. They are out of stock at the moment but iherb gets stuff back in very quickly and if, after reading the great reviews, you want some, they will notify you when they come in. These are almost a must for a bug-out bag-- [link to www.iherb.com] [link to www.iherb.com] If you've never ordered from iherb before, you can save $10 on an order of $40 or more. Plus, orders less than $40 will receive $5 off. Shipping is free with $40 purchase or $20 purchase under 10 pounds. Do not give up on your spirulina, and know that not all spirulinas are alike. Try others and find one you LOVE. I love the recommendations I offered. To your health~~ |

| Half Past Midnight User ID: 781996 11/24/2012 10:22 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I mix a couple tablespoons of Spirulina, a tablespoon of Chlorella, a heaping tablespoon of chia seed powder, a scoop of high quality chocolate flavored whey protein powder, and a scoop of greens first in 16 oz of cold almond milk and shake it for a couple minutes. Quoting: RyanH 21704388 It goes down VERY easily. It's delicious actually. And everything in it is super good for you. I do something similar a raw fudge, I mix raw extra virgin coconut oil with the green stuff and cocoa or cacao and some sweetener. I like to add other spices or herbs like cinnamon, nutmeg, powdered ginseng and whatever I have on hand. Can always add more sweetener if it's too bitter. |
| Spirulina in my Tummy! User ID: 24864727 01/31/2013 10:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Try SPIRULINA mixed into soft served icecream, like vanilla or chocolate= it's YUMMY.The sweetness really offsets the natural flavor. Even at a very heavy handed spirulina doses the icecream then tastes then more like Japanese Matcha.Still yummy. I love this to kickstart my day with energy or in the afternoons. Also great in chocolate pudding! Additionally, spirulina is very tasty sprinkled lightly on most foods, add it like seasoning to sandwiches, burgers, salads or mixed by the spoonful into hummus.Very savory foods and sweet foods do really well with additions of spirulina. TRY IT.![]() |
