April 30 2011

MADRID - Media say 14 people were working in the containment area of a nuclear power plant in northeast Spain this week when water used to cool a reactor was unexpectedly released.

El Pais newspaper reported Saturday that the workers were in the building, although none are believed to have suffered dangerous contamination.

Operator Anav said in a statement dated Thursday that "the opening of a valve caused the release of 25 cubic meters (883 cubic feet) of water.

we have another one in Valencia that is losing/recycling 4000 liters of cooling fluid a day.

nothing to worry about - we will just grow larger tomatos.

Operator Anav said in a statement dated Thursday that "the opening of a valve caused the release of 25 cubic meters (883 cubic feet) of water from the primary refrigeration system toward a pool in the containment building" at its Asco 1 plant near Tarragona. It said the industry regulator had been informed.

The reactor was not fully operational at the time.

Just unexpectedly released? Like everyone was sitting around playing cards talking about girls, having some giggles... and POOF! no more coolant? No earthquake, no tornado/hurricane...

I think you're right Andariel... this has pre-meditated written all over it, although I doubt it was a serious attempt at severe doom considering the damage done... So if there's no serious levels of radiation being released, then what's the M/O?
To distract from Fukushima? Levels there are ridiculously high...
Thread: Fukushima Japan Nuclear Radiation Levels Spike Highest Yet — 1,120,000 Microsieverts per Hour

Has there been any tests done in Spain for Fukushima radiation? Maybe it's showing up there now and TPTB don't want people to know radiation is showing up there as well... Limit the scope of the devastation being caused and make it seem like it came from those nuclear plants...??

Hello Mr squirrel hf

Alas I don't think it was intentional however radioactive water leaks just add to the total radioactive waste already present on our planet.

Hello to you as well hi

The article mentions a valve being opened and 25 cubic meters of water being released... If a valve is opened, it's more then likely manually done and if somebody just bumped into it, especially that one in particular, they'd have noticed and shut the valve again quickly before that much of the coolant was released... If it was a leak, that would make more sense, but considering it was due to a valve and the amount of time it would most likely take for that much water to be ejected... something else seems to be going on instead of adding, comparably to Fukushima, a tiny percent of added radiation to our atmosphere.
This was a media play, no doubt about it.

You've honestly posted the most interesting threads I've read on here. I'll be keepin an eye out for ya when browsin.

Re: ALERT *** YET ANOTHER RADIOACTIVE LEAK THIS TIME FROM A SPANISH NUCLEAR REACTOR *** WTF?
.."As of Jan 19, 2011 in 30 countries 442 nuclear power plant units with an installed electric net capacity of about 375 GW are in operation and 65 plants with an installed capacity of 63 GW are in 16 countries under construction..."

I often wonder what would happen to all those nuclear plants that need speacialists 24-7 watching over them like hawks, tending to them continuously because of their extremely dangerous composition, if there were a global catastrophe,..whatever, pick one; a global pandemic, a severe disruption in the global grid, a total economic crash, ..ect ect..how long would it take before they would go into meltdown?..not to long I suppose...not much hope for life..surviours would have to live underground for a long time..contamination would not allow us to eat anything grown, drink anything..not to mention the horrors that would happen to all the other life forms on the planet..

Its really beyond sick and tragic..there would be no hope..nothing.

All these nuclear events are warnings to humanity..
But humanity is not listening, many indifferent..

Are we going to have to have another nuclear event to make people wake up before the real chain of horrorific events take place?..or will none do anything again until its really too late??

Just like the Gulf oil spill: after the main event, smaller events occurred throughout the world in the weeks and months following.

Like Oil, Nuclear Reactors are another source of energy.

If you think this is just a coincidence, you haven't been paying attention.

25,000 Gallons Of Radioactive Water Released On Plant Workers in Madrid

Contaminated water flooded the containment building where the workers worked until around the ankles, imbuing the shoe and part of the protective equipment for workers. The nuclear proceeded to evacuate all personnel to flush and decontaminate the building and looked at radiation levels of the affected employees. These did not exceed the maximum levels of radioactivity permitted, he stressed the plant.

The fluid passed into another chamber of the containment area.
