Why not just get a throw away straight talk phone you paid cash for at wal mart and do whatever you want. Throw in the garbage if you have to. How could that ever be linked to a person that paid cash for it unless they arrest you while its in your pocket.

Only one solution for this. Do not connect your computer to any type of internet line. if it is offline this would be pretty much a waste

Yes, I did the same thing and highly recommend it. It speeds up your computer online activities because it sends the adds to a fake address that doesn't exist.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1277469

It sends the ads to a non-existent address? Didn't know that. There isn't anything in that short Google list that signifies that, is there? Either way, good to know.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 317023

That's exactly what it does.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1277469

Ha! Cool....that's actually funny....let them use their resources to send their shit off into no man's land.

Did you use the comprehensive file from that site? It is HUGE! That is, it has all kinds of anti-porn tracking URLs and advertising sites..all blocked! I just blocked the Google ads, but I think I'm going to go back and get their newest revision of their hosts file and replace my existing one with that long list. You're using it?

It won't thwart the FBI, but I stumbled upon a neat trick to stop Google ads and Google Analytics, etc., from clogging up my shit.

It's pretty simple:

First, with WinXP go to:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Where you will find a file named "hosts". If you have a different OS, just search for the "hosts" file and then OPEN IT IN NOTEBOOK.

You should see a line, possibly the only active line there that is:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Just add the following underneath the localhost line above:

127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com
127.0.0.1 google-analytics.com
127.0.0.1 ssl.google-analytics.com
127.0.0.1 *.google-analytics.com

127.0.0.1 adwords.google.com
127.0.0.1 pagead.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 adservices.google.com
127.0.0.1 imageads.googleadservices.com
127.0.0.1 imageads1.googleadservices.com
127.0.0.1 www.googleadservices.com
127.0.0.1 apps5.oingo.com

88.80.11.29 atdhe.net
88.80.11.29 www.atdhe.net

*******************************************

I haven't seen a single ad here ever since, nor on any other pages that use Google Analytics. Pretty simple without downloading Ad-block or whatever.

The neat thing is that this is a GNU project from:
[link to hostsfile.mine.nu]

From their sample "hosts" file...basically they continually build a "hosts" file that eliminates tons of sites from accessing your computer. You can download their comprehensive "hosts" file and lock out everything, but I just added the short list above. Those 2 under the Google entries are apparently pretty important. The following is from their furnished "hosts" file:

The amazing people at Electronic Frontier Foundation have, through Freedom of Information Act, received a document detailing the methods the FBI uses to track a person's activity on their personal computer. And it also makes it clear that they have used these tactics a lot. Please read this article as its especially important to subversives free speechers like us here...

Don't be afraid to switch to Linux. Everything still works just as before, and you'll learn the differences in a few minutes.

I use both windows and Linux because I didn't want to bother transferring so much data to the new OS, but not on the same computer. If you piggyback Linux with windoze, you still have the vulnerability issued.

Linux is better for professional applications, windows is good for the commercial applications of the Internet.

It is just like windows only much cleaner and without the built in vulnerability. And if you know what you're doing, no one knows who you are and where you. It's not anyone's business.

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

lol You tried it, eh? It's amazing how uncluttered the place becomes. When I read people complaining about loud audio or flashing ads, it seems like a far distant memory for me anymore. I know it doesn't really add security against sophisticated snooping by agencies, but I'm not too concerned about that. With all the patriot stuff I have on my computer, it would keep them busy reading it for years...many years. And they might like it.

You would have to format your hard drive about 7 times to make any data unrecoverable.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1283996

That is true, and that is why you totally degauss it before you re install an operating system. It's like having a brand new hard drive with nothing on it. A powerful electromagnet can completely erase all data. There is no way to retrieve it if done properly.

To the 'agents' intercepting my communications and monitoring my computer:

If you're violating the fourth amendment, you're not a legitimate Federal law enforcement organization, but just a gang of organized criminals. No law can supersede the Constitution without amendment, and no fake state of emergency can be used as an excuse.

But we knew that after you burned up them children in Waco and blew up that building in OK City. So come and get me , motherfuckers. I want you to know who I am.

If you were doing your jobs, you'd be rounding up these so called 'jews' that are giving your orders at the top to oppress the people of this nation.

You're nothing but the stasi police, and counter to everything this nations stands for.

Peace

actually your 12 gauge will not do much of anything. I have seen data recovered from burned disks

If they catch you for anything just plead Insanity,

Follow these steps -

2. Open your Web Browser.

3. Navigate to GLP.

4. Show those Motherf**kers EVERY God damn GLP thread you ever created.

5. Case closed.

and scatters the dust a hundred versts away. And there is
a golden pole with a golden cage on top which is also the

climbs up and down this pole. When he climbs down, he
sings songs, and when he climbs up, he tells tales."

I use DBAN on the Hiren CDs.

[link to www.dban.org]

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1283996

BULLSHIT!
IT DOES NOT WORK, PERIOD. It makes it where YOU can't see the data. That is all.

SO try to sell this somewhere else. A magnet is cheaper and it actually works just like I said it would

Re: How the FBI tracks everything you do on your computer...
You might be the dumbass. This blocks not only ads, but cookies, counters, and more.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 317023

Adblock removes the ad from the source code before the page even loads, and requires no hosts file maintenance. There is no harm is using both methods but its unnecessary to maintain a hosts file
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1353166

If I haven't done so yet, let me do so now.

ADBLOCK SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK! THE PROOF IS IN THAT WHEN I INSTALLED IT, I STILL GOT CERTAIN ADDS ANYWAY. WITH THE SETUP I HAVE NOW, BY UPDATING TH HOSTS FILES AS NECCESSARY, I CAN BLOCK ANY AD AGENCY THAT SIMPLY WRITES NEW CODE TO GET PAST ADBLOCK.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1277469

Yep, and I don't know why, but when I tried to download Adblock from the Firefox site a few weeks ago, for some reason, it said I couldn't do it. I haven't updated to the newer versions of Firefox, that could be it, but when it didn't let me download Adblock, I just figured screw it and went went with the hosts file

But really, it's not like you have to update the hosts file every day....every few months would probably be good enough...if that often. I don't really know but thanks for all of your info and confirmation.
