Johnny, so nice to see you back mate.
My Dad is turning 70 in a month and a bit.
I'm not a wealthy guy, and the trip to where he lives [Tasmania] is expensive in itself.
But I can make stuff.
He's a big fan of single malts, especially Lagavulin, which is from Isla. He also loves Cuban cigars.
I'm thinking about making either a humidor, and populating it with (2) cigars, or a timber case for the single malt, complete with glass, coasters etc. (all hand made)
Mum hates the cigars. But he loves them.
He also loves a wee dram every now and then. She's more tolerant of that.
It'll be more about the timber boxes I make, and the detail I put in them, than either of the products.
Would you be happy with such a gift? Which way would you lean? Cigars or single malt?
I realise you dont know me, or him, but I'm really in two minds, and I cant afford to do both.
[gonna use some beautiful aged western red cedar I've been dragging around for years.]
