2 - College for All - Most students in western countries get paid monthly to attend college.. Say what you want about this - it leaves USA now in the 15th and 17th and 23rd places on things like math, science, and even basic reading - at all... literacy is falling away here.

3 - Technical School for those who cannot make it into college - In most western countries, students are paid monthly to attend technical schools after high school, if they cannot or do not want, to attent 2-4 year university

4 - State pensions for all. SS guarnateed for all. Double the SS exemption. Companies do not want to pay these... Its obvious.

5 - Market protectionism, tarrifs, VATs, etc. - Just look at what China does to US companies trying to import into their country for some ideas - or look at what USA was doing in the time of and before Raygun... And what NAFTA in particular ended\changed.

in China if the have to shoot you, because you have broken the law, they send a bill to the family.

That's actually very true.

I repaired electronics for 15+ years. Many of the old items are still going. New stuff? Well, you are lucky if they last. If they don't, you are even luckier if the manufacturer supports the product with parts. Most of the time they do not. The idea is to throw it in the trash.

BTW, have a Magnavox television I use in the basement. Built in 1983-early cable compatible model and it still works like a champ. Televitz in the the living room is a 32" Sony made in 2005 that a friend was going to throw away. Had a bad diode that costs 7 cents. It's worked fine since I replaced it.

My point is that for all of the lip service these companies pay to green this and green that-it's bullshit. If that were true they would build decent products that last and would offer some product support for repair/refurb.

I feel bad for the Chinese workers but this is kind of like the dope trade. There is a demand and that demand will be filled. If people stopped buying this crap, it might change things. But, as long as people will pitch a tent overnight to be lined up in the morning for Apple's latest gadget, there will be slave shops making them. Ditto for the game console companies, etc.

This is going to come back to us as some kind of Karma. Bad karma...

I have an iPod Nano 5th gen I received for Christmas a few years ago. (I'm not an Apple user at all) I pull it out of the junk drawer every few months and just charge it. I like to think that charge gives a few poor Chinese souls a little after life for a few hours.

By the way, once charged, the battery is dead in 72hrs. It just sits there turned off. Apple=shitty products. My cheap LG Optimums smart phone can sit idle for more then 8 days and have some charge left.
