I can't say I agree with much of the OP, but I thought of this the otehr day. I saw two lesbians wearing shirts that said "All Love is Equal". Now, not to get into some philosophical debate or anything, but my instinctual reaction to someone wearing a shirt loudly proclaiming that their love is just as good as everyone else's is to think, Maybe this person somehow feels that it's not true and needs to overcompensate.

This applies especially to those gay people that aren't actually gay, if you know what I mean.
