It's easy and I think pretty normal to be scared. Especially now, during a big radiation scare.

Make sure your wife takes apple pectin on a DAILY BASIS. You can find ways to make it palatable... turn it into jelly. Who doesn't love jelly?!

But make sure she takes it if you want a normal, healthy baby.

Every chance she gets, she should soak in a sea-salt and baking soda bath to draw not only radiation, but other toxins out, as well.

A huge reminder to you, okay... to keep baby healthy, KEEP MOMMY HEALTHY!

And remind mom that pregnancy is NOT the time to indulge in sweets and things like that (politely, of course) because from a nutrition standpoint (NOT from a volume standpoint), she is eating for two!

Many women encouraged me blatantly to eat as unhealthy and disgusting food as I could during the whole pregnancy, because afterwards I would "have to diet, you know".

I told them that I was eating healthy and avoiding all of those things because I was eating NUTRITIONALLY, for two. It pissed them off and made me very unpopular, so she should expect to be encouraged to eat all the junk food she can 'before she has to diet'.

Your encouragement and keeping unhealthy food out of the house during this time will be a HUGE boon to her. She's likely to feel very alone.

You are posting some wonderful information. I would like to state though that the "eating for two" statement should not be taken at face value.

You are eating for two in the sense that you need to be mindful of what you are taking in and you need to be sure that you are getting the vitamins needed through fruits and vegetables. You are NOT eating for two where portion sizes are concerned. This train of thought leads to many overweight pregnancies which lead to complications. During a perfectly healthy pregnancy, a mother should never gain more than 25 pounds.
