Yep, we have come to that. Now just trying to explain it to people who are not as skilled with math.

Re: Math: 6÷2(1+2) = ?
Then solve this:

6/2(1x+2)=x

x
=?

.

Re: Math: 6÷2(1+2) = ?
6/2(1+2) = x
Quoting: DUCM900

6 / 2(1+2) = x
clear parentheses by distributive property :
6 / (2 * 1) + (2 * 2) = x
and clear parentheses by multiplication :
6 / 2 + 4 = x
then order of operations : division first, then addition :
3 + 4 = x

7 = x

You're welcome.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31801898

This is wrong on many levels. Try to plug 7 into the original equation where X is. Check your work.
Quoting: Revguard

OK.

6 / 2(1+2) = 7
6 / (2 * 1) + (2 * 2) = 7
6 / 2 + 4 = 7
3 + 4 = 7
7 = 7

I was right.

Re: Math: 6÷2(1+2) = ?
And the only way to removing parentheses (on green block), is to resolve the whole block first itself:

6/2(1+2) = x

you can't remove it just after resolving the inside stuff only. That's the bottom line of all.

Or are you thinking parentheses are there just for stupid design purpose thing or something?

.
Quoting: DUCM900

Ducm, please stop. The answer is 9. Will always be 9. I can show you about 5 different ways to check the answer is 9.

Edit: For the sake of eduction, The parenthesis are there for one reason, to tell you to do the 2+1 first. Nothing more, nothing less.
Quoting: Revguard

Bingo, so why not just reporting this if your claim is so obvious:

6/2*3 = x

-
Quoting: DUCM900

Yup, same thing, and it equals 9.

Wrong! OMFG. a/1a would allow a to be any number!

4/1 x 4 = 16

2/1 x 2 = 4

a/1a is not a math equation. There is no equal symbol.

WTF are people really this stupid?

Same thing for 6/2a. A could be anything.

6/2 x 4 = 12

6/2 X 1 = 3

x as been substituted for every integer for both the original equation and in fraction form and correctly solved for. The answer is 9.

Plug it into any good scientific or engineering calculator and it will show you the answer has always been, and always will be 9.

a/1 * a or a(a)= a^2

a/a = 1

You are confusing yourself. (1+2) does NOT belong in the denominator when you write that in fraction form. This is why you guys are getting 3/3=1 instead of 3^2=9.
