You are confusing yourself. (1+2) does NOT belong in the denominator when you write that in fraction form. This is why you guys are getting 3/3=1 instead of 3^2=9.

just forget about the PEMDAS or BODMAS rules,

flash back to the origin of mathematics which was used to solving human's "problems":

Assumption: Have 6 things to share, with 2 groups where theres a combination of 2 boys and 1 girl per group.

So, each of them how many things gets?

2 boys and 1 girl = 3 persons per group (2 group) so 6 persons each.

Now, only 6 things. 6 apples for 6 students.

Therefore, each student only gets 1 thing

= 1 its the answer.
