Whatever is enclosed in parentheses must be simplified first, or if not, it must interact as a quantity with anything outside. This means any operation on the quantity in parentheses must be applied to all of its parts. The most common and important example is called the distributive property. Quoting: hoyletutoring.comAnyone who can read, please enlighten yourself with the above. Here is the link: [ link to www.hoyletutoring.com] It is not just what is inside parentheses (which is what kids first learn)... As in the above: 6÷2(1+2) = 6 ÷ [2(2) + 2(1)] = 6 ÷ (4 + 2) = 1 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32057798 You point to a guy who has a BA in music to prove your point NICE [ link to www.hoyletutoring.com] Anyway in Canada they now teach the BIDMAS Systems not PEDMAS to elementary school kids as the PEDMAS is flawed as per the above example The Answerr is 9
