Re: ALERT: Why did the USGS take almost all the USA Seismic Servers offline?!
budget cuts limit maintenance/update of equpiment & some piece of it fails
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1291530

this is not from the equipment failing though
the equipment that records seismic events is located all over the country. They would not all go bad at the same time
if it was a site issue, then there would not be even one of the recordings being posted, and there is
 Quoting: NiNzrez

They might go malfunctioning(if data is unexpected!) as in case of day after 2moro!

haven't made my way through this thread yet

but from second blast levee thread, there was 2.6 near mitchell ga this morning, and someone reported swarm in main that were 2 or under or at least under 3.

Magnetosphere is haywire. Dept of Defense sent up equipment to study it (your interpretation of purpose) on ap 29

People on magnetoshpere thread have provided science based info on a relationship of magetnetosphere conditions to earthquakes

And the blasting, flooding, excess weight along the fault, more flooding further up Ohio will impact whole system.

dutchsinse has observed occasion in which data was not recorded because of equipment stopping and starting after an event that was documented on eurpoean systems

going back to read now.

mid west ga here, I posted somewhere earlier about pool sloshing, minutes ago I felt the floors of my whole house tremble. Just saw this link about seismographs all being down, so figured I'd add it here. Storm coming in now too.

Re: ALERT: Why did the USGS take almost all the USA Seismic Servers offline?!
hey already blew up the other levee today around 12:30 or so central time. Their was 5 distinct blasts. Don't know on what part of the river they blew it but it shook the shit out of the house. Dogs were running around panicking outside lol that was funny to watch.
It felt like an earthquake it was so powerful.

comment. From Second Blast site, it seems people farther away felt this stronger than the one last night, and people closer, maybe less. I have relatives in Mayfield Ky and I looked at the distance- about 60-70 miles. People were reporting stronger experiences today there, probably because they were in a more direct and closer proximity to the explosion which ws said to be at New Madrid ( not somewhere on the fault, but at the town.) From what I can tell, this was downriver from the first explosion. Cape Girardeau had people reporting the shock of the blast. There is an info center on facebook with lots of reports of shaking, etc. Some are forwarded to glp Second Blast thread if you want an idea of distances. Thread: !!!!!Second Blast at Birds Point Levee watch here!!! happened 12:36pm (Page 3) 35 and 20 miles was a very common distance.

Pay no attention to the trolls. You are just being vigilant, perhaps they rather read after the fact you noticed and didn't tell anyone. Why are they on the site or in the thread if they don't wanna know this kinda shit anyway?
I say they are jealous they didn't post first, therefore receiving the credit or whatever they statistically didn't receive as a child.

Definitely a sign that something is about to go boom. Like how the radiation stations went offline just after Fukushima.

Taking these servers offline is unacceptable. In order to keep accurate metrics of EQ activity it is imperative that they stay online. My guess is that the data is still being recorded somewhere, its just not being directed to the public sites at the moment. They obviously have something to hide.

Re: ALERT: Why did the USGS take almost all the USA Seismic Servers offline?!
All but a few of the Seismic Servers for the USA were taken offline by the USGS.
[link to aslwww.cr.usgs.gov]

i know you can get some independent readings for a few locations here and there, but this makes me a bit nervous that they took mosT servers offline on this particular site
 Quoting: NiNzrez

alot of the PNW strong motion seismo's are either showing "error, no data" or "missing url" on the majority of the readings sites as well today I noticed.

hmmm

and the ones that still did show a few of the graphs were all colored in heavily indicating strong motion thru the entire area and into northern CA

heads up!
