A transparent government? What if George Bush Jr went on TV and told you, "Here's the deal - 9/11 was a way to get into Afghanistan for their $1 trillion in minerals and into Iraq for their oil. The Arab countries have populations they cannot support, and I have to either use $2 trillion of your tax dollars to prop up their governments or we face a war costing over $10 trillion."

And for the second part, well, if you make the problem public, maybe someone comes up with a better solution to it than the dullards who get installed in government to begin with? I remember Bill Joy saying something like "the smartest people do not work for you". In any case, I really find it crazy that someone would tell a lie, a lie that everyone KNOWS is a lie, and nobody calls that person out on it, not only that but everyone pretends the lie is a truth. This planet is truly utterly mad, you know that, right? THANK YOU. THESE PEOPLE ARE BEYOND HELP.
