These guys just walk around the house. My oldest son was the first to see them and he told me about "seeing them all the time, but usually downstairs" when he was 4 or 5 back in the late 80's and they've been here ever since.

We even have a shadow cat that plays under tables and jumps on furniture.

Maybe not for you (one size does not fit all), but others have found it helpful. You might want to try some releasing work and to try to be more positive. Being an empath does not have to be a social curse. A person just needs to learn how to control it. I know it may not be easy but it can be done.
