*Thumb*
52. Fan out the fingers and thumb in a relaxed, natural position. Notice the angle of the thumb relative to the fingers. Wider angles show more generosity. A thumb closer to the fingers denotes stinginess. The thumb divides into three sections or phalanges: will, logic, and passion.

53. Willpower is represented in the first phalange. When long this phalange shows determination and drive in obtaining one’s wants, and this decreases in a shorter phalange. Length and circumference are equally important in examining any phalange.

54. A thumb’s joint denotes adaptability. Limber joint means adaptable in different situations or cultures, quickly settling in a community. A firm, stiff joint tells a person to be cautious in new environments and comfortable with routine.
