One hundred 1's equal 100...

One hundred in addition to/increased by itself is 200...

Therefore 100%

It's one hundred percent increase

0.01 = 1%
0.1 = 10%
1.0 = 100%

1.0 × 100 = 100

100 + 100 = 200

51 to 102=100%
51 to 153=200%
51 to 204=300%
now you do the math.

Here's how I learned it in clown college.

$2111 is (equal sign) an X increase of original $51

In equation form it looks like

2111 = X(51)

Divide both sides of the equal sign by 51 and you get:

41.392 = X(1)

Or simply

X = 41.392

Since we are dealing with "per cent," move the decimal over to the right 2 "one hundredths"

So the percent increase from $51 to $2111 is 4,139.2% I believe

Ooops, poster above me is right, it's 4139%. Math is still correct.

A 100% increase is the same as multiplying by 2.
A 200% increase is the same as multiplying by 3.

A (n)00.....0 increase is the same as multiplying by (n+1).

I don't know why they didn't just give you the formula like you asked:

to find the % increase, the formula is this:

2111-51=2060 then divide the answer by the original number (51):

2060 / 51 = 40.39 which is 4039% increase...
