Personally, I believe this is a credible reply. Sad to say, but failure of these monetary systems would be the trigger for demanding disclosure on even more important problems we face as a planet.

Greece seems like a huge asset, it has many islands dispersed amidst the region. I think the US would be better off ending the endless wars and entertain using some of the trillions saved (aside from dire needs here at home) to make Greece an official territory. I think it could offer much more in the long run than required to help it.

Is this going to affect our room service ?

Euro falls on rumours Greece is to quit the eurozone

Greece has vigorously denied rumours that it is has raised
The euro has fallen by more than 1% against the dollar, following a report that Greece had raised the possibility of leaving the single currency.

German magazine Der Spiegel reported that a meeting was taking place on Friday evening about Greece readopting its own currency.

The claim was vigorously denied by Greece and Germany.

However the BBC then learnt that ministers from four eurozone countries were indeed meeting in Luxembourg.

They just want a better deal like the Irish or the Protugese got. Only because it makes sense to the average John Doe that they quit and restart (it really would), politicians live in another world. Remember Kim Jong Ils threats? All balloons of hot air, as is the greece threat...

...damn I just wish the EU would fall apart! But maybe it's a got thing if the old EU fails to be replaced by a better one, I mean all the (political) infrastructure is in place already, making things easier.

You remember earlier this year and last year Presidents of Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain fiercely denying that they needed bailouts? And few weeks/months later it seemed that they did need bailouts.

This is exactly the same thing. Somewhere this year Greece will get out of the Euro simply as they cannot pay up and they whole country is in chaos (riots all the time).

The new currency NGD (new greek drachme) was already printed in 2010.

They have nothing to lose anyway.

They soaked themselves with 90 billions (40 billions ECB, 50 billions from european taxpayers), built 1st class infrastructure and now will simply default, restart their own currency and be competitive again in their main income source which is tourism.

Why are you blaming the Greek people? Its the banksters that are to blame here. Go and read into it.

It´s not blame. It´s just pointing out the reality of the situation.

The whine about the "stolen gold from WWII" is a delusional attitude. Germany and Japan were bombed flat during WWII. They rose to become the second and third economy in the world.

It´s the system that matters and that´s what needs to be changed.

As for the rest of your comments, it´s true that people don´t decide. But they will protest when everything falls apart. They wait until then because living above their means and piling on debt has short term benefits for everyone. The system forces this result.

The same problems are present here. Even Germany has too much debt and is going to face serious challenges. The system leads to the same problems. Only the Greeks and the other weaker countries really went waaay overboard. And it´s now time to face reality.

There´s no use in blaming. But recognizing what´s wrong is the only way to possibly solve the problems.


(I doubt problems will be solved, anyway. I think Europe will be a much poorer continent in 20 years. And I hope to be elsewhere by then!)

Did someone whine about the debt Greece owed Germany etc? Just asking! That which is owed might still be returned at some point...but what was stolen is unlikely to be repaid...ever!
