They are wiping out our infrastructure now (caught the White House on fire four nights ago), and have been for some time. I would presume that ground invasion will be this fall. I suspect they live on one of our Sun's binary companion's planets, which may not survive this trip to the inner system. What they want is probably a habitable planet to live on, and we have one. If they have to exterminate us to get it, and deal with an irradiated planet, they're probably willing to have us pay that price.

In fact there are more air force facilities in the spring than there are army....

I think they caused Fukushima with a targeted meteorite or seismic weapons. They've also been trying to get Sakurajima to blow for the last month (and they're doing a decent job of it too). Topple Japan into the ocean and they take out our west coast, lots of important infrastructure there.
