Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1362355Is that job worth it right now with gas the way it is? Some companies might provide a gas allowance. That is a question that needs to be asked up front. They might give you $10 for gas and to make change for customers but thats it. You have to spend some money to make it. Youll still profit if you have a fuel efficient vehicle. Only idiots deliver in their big ass trucks or lincoln towncars. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1319482 United States 05/10/2011 04:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Uh, car maintenance, people! Door handles to trannys. If you can fix it yourself and keep it running and it is cheap then, yes, do it. The driver job is coveted as the tips are split by drivers, and the inside guys get no tips so make less. Then again, there are some areas you do not want to go to. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1276620 Canada 05/10/2011 04:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I make $10 an hour. been working part time there several years. $1.25 per delivery plus tips. Tips avg. $3.00 per delivery. It's actually a decent paying job IF you work at the right resteraunt, and in a good area (not too many long deliveries and generous customers), also, and most importantly you have a vehicle that is reliable and inexpensive to maintain. Good choice for car is a Toyota echo, yarris. Honda fit, civic. Get a Gps, they are great even if you know the area. The Gps will take help you find an address in the dark when you cannot see address numbers or street signs. It's a fun job at times, other times it's stressful. There are a lot of arrogant people out there that have more respect for drug dealers making good money than a lowly pizza guy, lol. The people that I work with have generally been humble friendly and fun to work with. GL. |

You can run as many or few pizzas as you want, though more pizza = more tips. I averaged around $13.50 an hour net. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1303454Totally agree, it really is like having your own business. Helps if you have a good employer/supervisor as well. Also, it's a great place to work if you want time off to travel or do/work with other stuff going on. Great if you want to be semi=retired as well. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1362355You supply the car, the Pizza house supplies the gasoline. Add to that all the free pizza you can eat. IF you have a good route with good people who believe in shoveling over a few dollars each time you deliver, then yes, its good pay. However, if you are just starting and there is more than one route you can be certain you will be given the crap route/customers. 3orchids User ID: 1368852 United States 11/26/2011 05:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is no gas allowance. You pay for your gas and not everyone tips, especially black people. They even demand change--to the cent. This is from personal experience. Do not even consider it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1376666 No gas allowance ..... minimum wage ....... geeesh .... you'll be delivering pizzas just so you can pay for gas to deliver pizza. |

LoneSurviver User ID: 10404177 United States 12/04/2012 04:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Several things to factor in...your SUPPOSEd to get minimum wage. Some places will give you SERVEr minimum wage which is like 3$ an hour. Some places charge "delivery fee", which is usually either given wholly or split with the driver. Now factor in: gas, brakes, tires, oil changes...you will be doing them a lot. Most people tip their delivery driver LESS then you would a waiter or waitress, which is stupid. Personally I til a minimum of 5$ and they are about a mile away. I figure between he 5$ tip and 2-3$ dollar delivery charge that's fair for 15 minutes driving. Also keep in mind most places make their driver do "side work" like folding boxes, prepping food, ect..now with that in mind on a slow night you may only get a sw deliveries with crappy (or no tips), and you were a pizza places bitch for next to nothing. |
