The folks who evacuated on Saturday AFTER the mandatory order was given ran into MASSIVE traffic jams, taking 10-15 hours to get out of town.

In many cases, the gas stations along the way ran out of fuel. The people who left after Saturday early morning were literally gambling their lives on being to go the right way and make it out in time. Even if they did make it out, there wasn´t ANY help awaiting them when they arrived at their destinations. Even now, refugees are being booted out of hotels and motels by the football fans who had reserved the rooms earlier.

MANY of the folks who evacuated may have been totally washed away during the storm. The GLP reports of pulling bodies from 30 feet up in the trees along the coast haunts me!
