15-minute online test for dementia: DIY memory quiz detects early signs of Alzheimer's in people as young as 50
An early warning test for Alzheimer’s that can be taken online in 15 minutes has been developed by British scientists.
It can spot signs of the debilitating brain disease in people as young as 50.

The computer-based interactive quiz provides an instant result and could help delay or prevent the condition by advising simple diet and lifestyle changes.

Experts say that delaying the onset of Alzheimer’s by five years could halve the number who die with the condition, currently a third of over-65s. This has led scientists around the world to try to create blood and other tests that spot the disease early.

Take care of yourself and you don't need the test. :)

Took the test and ended up as having a very low risk at getting Alzheimers, although I stuff myself with all the before mentioned bad food... guess I'm right in time to quit the bad habit now.

I thought not only does GLP have the cure to cancer but also the cure to Alzheimer's. Why worry? We will never die, except from doom, or waiting for it.

Re: 15-minute online test for dementia: DIY memory quiz detects early signs of Alzheimer's in people as young as 50
I took the test because my Mom has had Alzheimer's and has progressed to the point of not feeding herself or walking. She is only 75 and has been living with this disease since she was in her late sixties. It is so sad to see anyone go through this and heartbreaking. I also had an Uncle on my father's side who had the disease. So I have cause to be concerned. So far no danger, but I have to tell you this; using a laptop to take the test was not easy since they test the speed at which you answer the questions. And laptops do not have a mouse. Thank you for posting this test I think I will forward it on to all my siblings.

BTW I am not 50, but I figured with these risk factors in my family it made sense to take it now.

You can buy a mouse for your laptop. The touch pads are beyond annoying, I refuse to use mine.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

problem is as always the exam was written by somebody midly retarded who did not proof read it.. in the final question you are asked to name what colum the object was seen in at the start, a b c d or e. however they do not clarify if they mean across or down.
heh. i assumed they were talking about downward colums going left to right a - e.

No no..I have never liked them, I've used laptops exclusively since my early 20's, couldn't deal with the touch pad then either, it seems like I can't maneuver fast enough, and I like to play games on here so the mouse makes a huge difference for me.

Same re touch pad, but kids seem to be able to adapt to any kind of interface, so I made an effort to be comfortable with using it, at least when my primary computer was a laptop.

How can I get a measly 48 on this test - and 139 on my iq? I thought I did well?!!

Then again, I said 'yes' to most questions like do you sometimes forget people's names.

Alternatively, you could try writing in long, elaborate sentences. You could then have Alzheimer's AND not have symptoms.
