Check this out. You can purchase food products from here [link to www.freefood2go.com] and sell it at your local flea market or farmers market. Just bring some already prepared in a crock pot and give away free samples. I sell 2 serving pouches for between $3.00 and $4.00 and my cost about $1.25. Wal-Mart sells a similar product for $6.00 for a two serving pouch. If you are interested in marketing to others you can get others to join the co-op and your food will cost you nothing!

its tuff call,

Could do little landscaping, clean-ups and lawn maintance, but you really need to think long term, then build the business from ground up, to a few crews.

Small yards, dirt cheap, fast, in and out.

But thats work,

Like I said, get into the Currency trading game, get good at it, and never look back.

OP buy a USED PUSH lawn mower, buy an ad in your local newspaper for a month at a time, and start mowing lawns for as many people as possible.
Also, tell them all that you do handy man work and other odd jobs too.
Save as much as you can - don't spend it. Re-Invest later in a bigger business.

Hot dog cart? You could do specialty sausages like Elk if you wanted. There is a guy in Denver with a cart called Biker's Jims. It's hugely popular. Or if you do regular hot dogs...make sure you offer lots of condiments. You could also do a lunch truck.

I also like the diaper idea.

Sell cheap imported Chinese-made household goods in a low-rent
district.

You'll need at least $1,000 to buy product, and the other $1,000 for rental space for a couple of Months.

Soon, you'll be the next Sam Walton and you'll be competing with Walmart.

None , your liability insurance , workers compensation and permits will be over 10K$
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1382898

thats bs

i run a business for much less than that:

$150 in corporate activity tax (CAT Tax) for license to operate and under $700 in insurance per year

the biggest cost would be the tax return, but i do my own since i have an accounting degree

and btw workers comp is not required for sole proprietors

ignore the advice from someone who obviously doesn't know a thing about what he/she is talking about.

I started my business in Nov. and the business license fees are not that much if you intend to make enough to support yourself. If you plan to make a couple thousand bucks, the fees may be more than you want to pay.

If you are starting a retail business it might behoove you to go talk to someone at a local economic development agency. They may at least be able to give you advice on what permits you'll need.

Sorry but even if you are not going to have emploees,or even if you work out of your home or your car. If it is a leagel busness, that 2 grand will be in government hands and you still will not have all the permits and paper work paid for. I guess as much as I hate to say it, there right DRUGS.

start a lending circle. but not a ladies sitting around swapping recipies and talking jive type lending circle. a lending circle where your goal is to have 2 million dollars in cash to lend in less than 2 years rather than the 2 thou you have now. find some people with jobs who need a bit of extra to get them through the month then write a legal contract (do it yourself dont pay some asshole lawyer, also later on this will help you because you should start a secondary company, even though its just still you, who handles the documentation side of things) anyway the legal contract should get the repayments made straight to you on the day that they get their paycheck. make sure your interest rate is no less than 25% a month.
