Graceland User ID: 1194147 United States 05/16/2011 12:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | nothing was going on. no apparent power surge. no smoke in the house. no a/c or heater running. almost no appliances running. sitting here reading and every smoke alarm goes off at the same time and keeps beeping for about 2 minutes. then they all stop at once. this has never happened before that i know of. computer still works and never reacted to anything. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1382127any ideas? When I was a residential electrician, all the newer home smoke detectors got wired together. If you take one down you'll see that theres a black, white, AND a red wire. The red wire inner-connects all the smokes. That's why they all went off at once. They're not your mommas old smoke detectors. I hope this helps. |

Could be a bad 9-volt or just loose wiring on the 3 wires ... check the wire nuts, but turn the power off first. |

NEC makes smokes have their own designated breaker. Usually if the battery is low they chirp. Good call on that one DOOMBREAKER! |
