Too much salt causes fluid retention; fluid retention can build up around the heart causing congestive heart failure. The heat sack has virtually NO GIVE to it. If it fills with fluid, you are in deep shit. 2400mg a day is the RDA of sodium (not necessarily salt). That equates to only one level tea spoon...not much at all if you think about it.

I am a heart patient and have done more than my share of research on how the cardiopulmonary systems work. When you've had your chest splayed open with a goth-like rib spreader at only 48 years old, you tend to take notice and educate yourself. Furthermore, I was fortunate enough to have one of the top surgeons as well as still having one of the top cardiologists in AZ, at least according to one of those "The best of the best" trade magazines...
